Big-O Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Is Fishing fun... Heck Yeah, especially when the big girls come out and play The first one came at dawn the first morning when the Rooster Crowed (Smokin Rooster) and the next one was the next day around noon I admit it... I love the BIG Girls, and I'm addicted to'em : Many of the fish (pre and post spawners) are now mixing on the same 9 to 12 ft structure types making the bite even better. The second fish was empty of eggs and tail still dripping blood while the first was waiting on her chance to go up. Still flipping thick cover and using braid, since it's basically close quarters combat... one of my favorite styles of fighting... I mean fishing ;D Hope to see many of you at the Roadtrip at Kentucky Lake next month Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Shane Procell Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Iam with ya, heck of an addiction there! I'am surprised that these fishing show host are not knocking down your door to get in the boat with you. Quote
hookingem Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I think were all addicted to catching the big girls! I can't believe you didn't put those fish on the scale!? Quote
Super User SoFlaBassAddict Posted March 11, 2011 Super User Posted March 11, 2011 Yeesh, Steve. I'm not sure I'd ever leave that lake.... Great fish as always. WTG. Quote
Big-O Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 SFBA, We have many good lakes here in Tx that make my fishing exciting for me so I stay ready to go all the time ;D Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Big-O Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 No, haven't fished a bed in 30 yrs... Don't need to when I can catch them and others prior to them going to bed I fish the holding areas that they're attracted to before and after which is generally the same spots. This way the egg laying process is not interupted and IMO the fish are much more predictable and easy to catch Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
evrgladesbasser Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Your the man Big-O. Always look forward to your pics... love your baits. Have you (or have you considered) written any articles for the site on big fish hunting? I'd realy like to know how you do it man Quote
fishermantony Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Beautiful fish! Are you using a fluorocarbon leader? Quote
shimmy Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Big-O, someday when i make a trip through Texas, you are taking me fishing. Man, that is just ridiculous. And consistent, that is the real kicker here. Quote
Big-O Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 fishermantony, No fluoro leader... I'm using straight 50lb Suffix braid. And evrgladesbasser, I haven't written any articles here per say but try to provide detailed info on a regular basis... I think what we target is what we have the best opportunity to catch Also by not allowing our lack of catching fish to deter us from maintaining a firm fix on the target, we stay on the hunt until we find the Keys to success. Of course, it always helps if we only fish lakes where we're confident there are large fish in good supply and I'm lucky I live in Texas, we have plenty of public waters to choose from that are known Big Fish Lakes. I think that if many of you fished these waters too, you would be doing the same as I Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted March 11, 2011 Super User Posted March 11, 2011 I used to like you. But you've made me envious, and I don't like that. But I'll put that aside and be polite at the Road Trip. Looks like the same bait you and the soldiers were using at Pickwick. Quote
Fish Chris Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Darn nice fish ! It would just kill me to catch fish like that, and not know how much they weighed though.... Anyway, continued success to you Peace, Fish Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted March 11, 2011 Super User Posted March 11, 2011 Those are really some nice bass. For me it's all about the battle, guesstimates are close enough for me. Quote

I ask because I've got my flippin stick rigged with straight 50 lb braid and I've heard people say using the flouro leader can be more effective in situations. I've never had a a problem with straight braid, so I think I'll keep it that way. Quote
kbkindle Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 hey big o the only places i could catch any fish that size. I use to stay in zapata for 6 months at a time. till the drug traffic got so bad i had to quit going there. different time we would go to choke cannon from zapata and stay at the motel. across from the park The nolan ryan motel. great place Those 2 lakes is the only place where i could catch big fish. i know there are more but those lakes were good to me Falcon and choke Quote
Fish Chris Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 For me it's all about the battle, guesstimates are close enough for me. And I guess for Big-O also. But ever since I was a kid, I was into numbers, and statistics. If I heard something was really fast, I wanted to know, How fast ? If I heard it was really strong, I wanted to know How Strong ? Really heavy.... How Heavy ? And then, seeing how I'm always trying to outdo myself, obviously I need a number that I'm shooting to beat. Of course it's more important for me to know the weight of my own catches. Never cared to do better than anyone else anyway..... being possibly the least competitive guy on the planet. Peace, Fish Quote
