MaineBassMan Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Cabin fever setting in and I'm thinking about fishing. I was looking back through some 2010 fishing pictures and came across one of my trips. It wasn't even a bass fishing trip, instead I went fishing for white perch for a fish fry. Ended up catch a nice batch of white perch and a nice fat and tasty sunfish. The most memorable part of the trip though was feeding the eagles. We we surrounded by about eight Bald eagles and we decided to feed them some of our smaller perch. So we would throw out the perch and try and time the camera shot to get them grabbing the fish, this is not an easy task!! These are two of the better pictures. It was just a fun day on the water. Sometimes it isn't about catching the fish. : the sunfish ATVing picture Quote

MaineBassMan Posted January 23, 2011 Author Posted January 23, 2011 Awesome pics for sure, MainebassMan! What lake was that on? Thanks, Probably one you never heard of. It's not a "known" lake. Lets just put it this way; it's named appropriately. Quote
BassThumb Posted January 23, 2011 Posted January 23, 2011 Good pics. You gotta love watching raptors hunt for fish. Bald Eagles will sometimes pull their wings in and drop like a torpedo into the water, diving feet first and completely submerging themselves going after fish. I've seen it twice on the Mississippi, where the eagles and hawks are often going after carp and redhorse. Quote

hookset on 3 Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 Yup,that's some food for the soul right there. Maine is a land of extremes: extreme beauty and extreme winters. It's been six or seven years since the last time I've been to my buddies Maine camp, but I'm itching for a road trip for smallmouths in June. Quote

The fishing is getting better every year. 8-) Quote
1bigpapa Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Great pictures. My dad lives in Danforth. Are you close to them? I was up in August this past year to visit but didn't get any fishing in. Hope to head back up soon to try some ice-fishing. Definitely excited about going up in late spring/early summer to fish for smallmouth? Maybe we can get together... Quote

Definitely excited about going up in late spring/early summer to fish for smallmouth? Maybe we can get together... I'm about two hours southeast of Danforth, Down in Cutler. Thats the best time to come up, my favorite months are May and June. Only one problem... If I took you to my favorite lakes I would have to kill you after we were done. ;D Just joking of course : Quote
1bigpapa Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 I hear you... LOL - Well, if the fishing is that good, might be a chance I'd have to take. Good news is, even if you did share your favorite fishing spot with me, I usually only get up there once during fishing season per year... talk to you later. Jon Quote
