I caught my first fish ever on a lipless crankbait today at lunch. It weighed in at 2.3 pounds. Four years of fishing and I finally got a fish on one. On the downside I lost what appeared to be a monster later in the day on the same lure. He threw the lure thirty seconds into my fight with him. Still I finally got a crankbait fish!

Congrats - good catch!

Lipless cranks are one of my favorie baits, you can cover a lot of water with them for sure.

2 years? What the heck have you been waitin' for :)?

Congrats on your accomplishment.  Lipless cranks are a great bait and catch tons of fish.  Keep it up.

keep it up bud.  you will fall in love with these baits very quickly.  i rarely go without having one tied on.  like a lot of other folks will tell you, the first thing you need to do on these baits is make sure you have good sticky sharp hooks.  many of the older baits especially have crappy, dull hooks.  because of the design of these baits, fish tend to throw them every once in a while.  sharp hooks won't totally cure this but it will help a great deal.  good luck.

Good to hear you picked one up that way. Now you'll be trying it more and more, getting confident with it. I love throwing a lipless or even a lipped crank to try and locate fish. Usually turns out pretty good results. Water's too cold for me to do that too much around here now. These bass don't wanna chase anything. Keep it up!!!

paul. Thanks for the advice on the hooks. I will definately be doing that. I went to Academy Sports on Sunday and bought twenty five of these baits. They had them on sale for 2.88.  ;D  Hopefully the weather will clear up tommorow and I can try them again. The wind was blowing so hard today I couldn't feel the bait or keep a tight line on it.  :-[

senile1, they were H20 Express. Light gray top fade down to light grayish silver bottom, With black tiger stripes down the body. Thats the one that I caught the fish on. The one where the fish got off the lure was a old silver Ratltrap, with blue top and orange bottom.
