bryand82487 Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Went out on the TN river this morning for about 5 hours to try to catch some smallies. I was fishing with live bait and managed to catch some catfish but no smallies. After a couple of hours I decided to start throwing artificials. In the past I've thrown a couple of small paddle tail swimbaits but I've never thrown any hard bodied swimbaits, and always felt like I would be discouraged throwing these big baits so I never really got into it. Well last spring I started seeing some posts about Randalls high power herring swimbait and many members were posting pictures of fish they caught. I decided I would give them a try so I sent Randall a message and got him to make me one. I was unable to fish much in the spring and summer because work got hectic so I hadn't had a chance to use it. Today I pulled it out and after about the 6th cast the bass in the picture below nailed it. Its not a big bass for a swimbait but I can't complain. The action this bait gives off is amazing and today definitely gave me the confidence I needed to use it a lot and stick with it. Thanks Randall for a great bait. I can't to fish with it some more! I will definitely be getting another one. I think I'm hooked on swimbaits now! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted November 4, 2010 Super User Posted November 4, 2010 I'm kind of torn on this bait... One the one hand, I want to see Randally make boatloads of money on an amazing bait. On the other hand, I don't want anyone else to have them. LOL Congrats man, many more to be had on that bait. Quote

Yea I know what you mean but the Triton Mike Bucca Bull Shad Swimbait has been out for a while I believe and I've never heard much about it. It's similar to the high power herring but it's more expensive though. I've never used it but I'm sure it's different somehow. I'd much rather get them from Randall though to help out a BR member who's an average guy like most of us on here. Plus it's an awesome bait. I think he will be able to make his bait a pretty big hit if he has the time and wants to. Also it would be neat to see someone start off selling there bait on here and locally then one day start to see it on ever tackle website. Good luck Randall I think you'll do great if that's what you want to do! Quote
Jason Penn Posted November 4, 2010 Posted November 4, 2010 Congrats on the swimbait fish!!! I just started using them a month or so ago and I can't buy a bite!! :-[ The lake I'm fishing in NE Arkansas is where the state record came out of and I really expected to do pretty good on them. There's so many 3"-5" shad in this lake. Since mid-September they have been balled up so bad that it looks like a stream running thru the lake, just a line of shad for 30 yards in front of my boat. I have threw the Yum soft baits, Storm 4" baits, Strike King King sexy swimmer and the Tru Tungsten 5" baits and have been able to do anything. Quote

With that many baitfish around, yours needs to look the easiet to catch. Go to the extremes - fast and SLOOOOOW. If it doesnt stand out amongst the "real" fish, you are in a crapshoot that, most of the time, you will lose. Quote

When you do catch some though you will be hooked. Quote

Good luck Randall I think you'll do great if that's what you want to do! Well, I really don't want to see my bait in every tackle shop. I have two here in the local Atlanta area that carry it because they asked for it when I started and I have had long term relationships with them as a customer. My goal when I started was to build the best bait I could for a good price without all the hype, fake promotions and lies that I have seen to sell swimbaits. As long as the bait keeps catching ten pound plus fish and 40lb five fish limits I am happy. As long as the people with the baits never have an issue with them and they are happy then I am happy. If it gets larger then I will stop guiding and do it full time. Thanks for posting and congrats since I like seeing the sucess others are having on the bait. That's what makes building baits fun for me. Quote

Randall made it after him and mike had some problems. Bullshad is THE bait to have. They get bit EVERYWHERE. Even in lakes with no shad! The bullshad gets talked about A LOT. thats why Mike cant keep them in stock and is working his . off to keep up with them!!!! Mike Bucca is or was a memeber here too. Bullshad is worth the price it is. Quote

Bullshad is worth the price it is. Ok here comes this stuff again.I was hoping this stuff was over. Alot if people know I don't care for Mike and have plenty of reason not to. I have proven my bait was not a copy of Mike's. You can go back to 2006 or 2007 and see my first baits that I posted here in the tackle making section in two different posts. Those still exist. My bait doesn't swim like a Bull Shad and isn't made like one. I catch my fish and don't use the Georgia DNR to give me fish to hang a Bull Shad in their mouth like Mike did. This DNR guy has admited to giving Mike the fish. I got away from Mike and his bait because of his dishonesty not to copy his bait. Quote
shimmy Posted November 6, 2010 Posted November 6, 2010 Randall, that is such a classic picture i love it. What a bummer for Mike to be such an idiot about it. I do appreciate your comments and humility though Randall and think you have proven time and again to be a good fisherman. Oh Mike...what were you thinking Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted November 8, 2010 Super User Posted November 8, 2010 Oh man that is awesome. Bucca is a constant self promoter. Yoo hoo! 5lb spots. Whatever. Quote
NewAngler Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 RANDALL FOR THE WIN!!!!!!! I don't doubt that the Bullshad is a great bait, and I don't doubt that the HPH is a great bait. The HPH will get my money 100% of the time because of that picture right there. Nice fish, Bryand Quote
