Super User Raul Posted December 17, 2008 Super User Posted December 17, 2008 But WHAT KIND Do you use and WHY - What do you reccomend ... You should at least have: 600+ crankbaits 100+ spinnerbaits 200+ jigs 50+ swimbaits 80+ pounds of soft plastics. That 's a nice starter kit. Why ? cuz it 's better having and not needing than needing and not having. Quote
Btech Posted December 17, 2008 Author Posted December 17, 2008 Agreed Raul now.... List those 600 Crankbaits 100 Spinnerbaits etc... and we are in business Im intersted in knowing what everyone Recomends specificly not just " Jigs Spinnerbaits and crankbaits " What Brand / Type of jig spinnerbaits etc. Quote

Super User Raul Posted December 17, 2008 Super User Posted December 17, 2008 What I recommend would be ( and you 're not going to believe it but senkos are not in the liest ): Culprit 7.5 ribbon tail worm, we us southern boys have been catching bass on them for decades. Color ? choose the color you like. Mann 's 6" Jelly Worm or Zoom Trickworm, same case as the previous, those have worked for me for ages. Jigs, I don 't care about which brand as long as it has a good quality razor sharp hook, I fish with BPS jigs cuz the hook is good and taking in consideration that very seldomly any jig I pull out of the tackle box returns to it I prefer the cheap ones. No TBox should be without the Rapala Shad Rap ( you choose size, style and color ), I 've caught more fish on them than with any other crankbait I 've owned or own. No Tbox should be without Rat-LTraps, change the hooks for good ones. No Tbox should be without a Jitterbug Spinnerbaits, choose whatever you want as long as the hook is sharp and strong, and as long as it has a good quality swivel, I still fish with some of my 10+ years old Strike Kings. Super User Muddy Posted December 17, 2008 Super User Posted December 17, 2008 Hard baits Rapala : Original Floaters and Jointed; Color 01, sizes 11 and 13 Rapala Dt's at least 2 of each in every depth made Original Balsa Big O's ( 2 left :-/) Bagley Balsa B's Jitterbugs: 5/8 ounce in jointed also Rapala Skitter Walks Rapala Extreme shallow Shad Raps Soft Baits; *** Trik Sticks in 5 and 4 inch ( any dark color) *** Beaver Craws *** Brush Bugs , especially the 6.5 inch ones *** * *** Ripple tail worms Zoom Fat Alberts Zoom Trick Worms Manns 10 and 12 inch Jelly worms ( Marmalade and Grape) Jig Heads: *** Hooker Heads Bps, Barlows and Cabelas Football and other assorted Jig heads, With either the screw type plastic fastener or small hook: Forget the Red Hook models Charlie Brewer Slider Heads All 4 Models Evolution 2 heads, but I am moving away from these as the bait holder is too thick and rips baits easily Lucky Strike Perfection and Finesse Heads Quote
Super User Marty Posted December 18, 2008 Super User Posted December 18, 2008 But WHAT KIND Do you use and WHY - What do you reccomend ... I'm closer to Raul's opinion than others. I think way too much emphasis is being placed on brands and colors. If I'm fortunate enough to locate some fish, I'm happy, because bass that are willing to hit something will generally be willing to hit numerous different lures. Quote
Btech Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 You may be right marty but i created this in intrest to see what people prefer and give them a chance to name their top lures (Rather than what kind - that would make a good pole maybe) but the brand and color was more to see where they were from and what works for them in that area. Just thought it would be intersting. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted December 18, 2008 Super User Posted December 18, 2008 This is what is Must have for my water.... #1.Berkley powertube 3" in smoke color(this is my magic bait) #2.White or white/chart. 1/4 H&H spinnerbait #3.silver inline spinners 1/3 oz with a hint of green on body #4.Brown G-man's football jig with a green pumpkin or brown trailer(i use joe s. trailers) #5.white grubs single tail.As long as that tail has action it doesn't matter on the brand.I'm like raul I use 1/8 oz jig whatever brand with a sharp enough 1/0 hook.I lose to many jigs to keep expensive ones around. Those baits have worked the past 2 years Quote
