Vinny Chase Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Last week i posted about my day where i found a few spots on a drop off that were amazing. Well today i went back out there and starting throwing DT 14s, DT 20s, and DD20s. My first cast i hooked into a HOG. I fought it for a few minutes until it showed her pretty self off before spitting the hook. I could have gotten discouraged, but i continued to throw numerous colors and depths, all producing. I caught ten bass, including a 5lb bass and the 40 in muskie shown below. I am so addicted to deep cranking i don't think i'm going back to anything else! Quote
Vinny Chase Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 nice haul man!! what colors were you throwin? DT 14s and 20s: Silver, green shad, chart. brown, chart. purple shiner. DD20: Sour grape, pearl white, red ear All produced at least one fish Quote
Vinny Chase Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 appreciate the info vinny. using crankbaits is probably my weak point as far as bassin goes. but its something that has been on my mind to learn & throw more. I was in your position only a short time ago, but one thing i have taken from this past week of fishing was that 90% of crainkbait fishing is technique, not the color or lure you are using. One member told me that, but i never thought that could be until i noticed when they were biting almost all my crainks were working and vice versa. Quote
endless Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Way to go Vinny. Yea I'm tossing more cranks myself, never no DT's though. I need to jump on some especially for deep diving. Wow muskie, god I might just have to take a trip to new river or something for them. By the way where's the platoon? Got yourself another boat? Quote
Vinny Chase Posted August 3, 2010 Author Posted August 3, 2010 Looks like tiger muskie. Nice catches! Yes sir! Thats all we got in our lake Quote

CAdeltaLipRipper Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Used to hate crankbaits. Now i LOVE them ;D i prefer shallow running crankbaits and lipless crankbaits. Sometimes when the tulle bite dies at the delta, you go to the levees and rock piles and slay em on crankbaits Quote
Vinny Chase Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 Got a chance to go out today and got about 3 in a few hours including a pike and this hog! I didnt have my scale on me but she measured 20 1/2", im thinking about 5 lbs. Quote
