So I decide to go out for a few minutes this afternoon just before our regular afternoon thunderstorms roll in. Tossing out a jig with a rage craw on it, and this bites....

Caught a couple others on the same lure before I called it quits after noticing how frayed my leader got. Had another one of similar size yesterday without a camera handy.

I didn't know they had peacock bass in Florida.  Were those introduced intentionally or did someone sneak them in?

FWC introduced them down here in the early 80's.

Interesting, did not know that.  I still lived in Florida at that time but I was a kid and we pretty much just fished saltwater.  When we fished freshwater it was for panfish.  I didn't get into bass fishing until well after the family moved out here to New Mexico unfortunately.

Very nice catch! I been hunting for that type of peacock but all I seem to catch is LM now. =)

Nice pea.......Palm beach county is not producing them for me at this time........Not doing much freshwater now.

Just moved from Ft Lauderdale to northern florida...  hands down, the biggest thing I miss is peacock bass.    ;D

Nice peacock  I haven't caught one up here in Broward since that nasty cold snap.  I think i'm going to have to start traveling south to get on that peacock bite.  Freshie snook and tarpon have been on fire in my area though.
