A buddy from Atlanta came up for some smallie action. Lots of cold weather & waves. We actually did better on the windy days, go figure. Here is Roy's best for the trip.

Dwight, I don't know how you do it.  I fish in Erie quite a bit, but I just can't dial it in like you do.  I have been catching a ton of smaller males, but haven't been able to hone in on the big females (5 lb 12 oz. is my biggest this year, which, as you know, is not taking advantage of Erie's full potential).  If you have any tips you wouldn't mind kindly passing on, I would greatly appreciate it.  Congratulations on those Nice fish.

LCM, this has been the worst smallie prespawn I have experienced for the last five years. In talking to other fisherman they have complained as well. Your doing good at 5-12 believe me. For some reason the normal patterns have not really developed. We have just picked at them. The fish we have found have been scattered and at changing depths. We have found mostly males shallow from 8-15 fow. Females have been slightly deeper 16-30 but not consistant. I usually look for the girls as deep as 30 fow this time of year. Sooner or later they will move shallower. The recent gale force winds & subsquent smelt die off have not helped. Keep pluggin it has to get better. PM me if I can help you any further.

Well, the ones you guys are catching are beauties!

You have set the bar pretty high. I'm sure you'll soon

report a day of both numbers and size.

Livin' the dream!
