shimmy Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 These aren't the biggest but it is what i have for the week. Fishing was tough. I am averaging 3-5 fish per 4 hours of fishing. Always tough fishing conditions but i usually get one out of the bunch that is picture worthy making it all worth while. It is interesting though, if anyone has ever fished Minnesota, they'd know that catching a 100 fish a day is average (given that you know the lake). The lakes i am restricted to fish up here in northern VA are kickin my trash. I wish i could get into the Potomac river though, that is one mighty fine fishery. Either way, the raft is treating me well, however, i got a ticket the other day from the warden on Lake Brittle for not having my raft registered! So, apparently a raft with a 30 lb thrust trolling motor is just too dangerous to not have registered. I swear, DNR guys must get such a kick out of giving tickets. It's one thing if you know better, but i mean come on; getting a ticket over something you thought was legal is ridiculous. These are from Lake Brittle using the old classic bubble gum colored 3 inch senko; the prodigy of artificial bass fishing. ----First one here is a 4.1 lb. I think it looks bigger than it really is. It was short, look at my hand to mouth ratio which helps make her see she is a wee bit smaller than what she is. She just likes the camera. ----Second one is my 5.2, short bass but really fat. Really bad hook set but was lucky to land her. ----Third one is my 6.1 lb 22.25 incher. She fought like a champ making her my favorite battle thus far this year. ----Fourth one, same fish but it looks like i am Sasquatch walking through the woods with my food ----Last one, (not pictured) is the monster i had shake me off 5 feet from the boat making my heart drop and i am still feeling the pain. At least she jumped high enough that i got to see all of her beauty. While in mid-air, she looked at me, i looked at her, and we both knew right then that she was not going to end up in my arms. Looked over 7 pounds. Just kept swimming towards me and i never could set the hook. Quote
Super User Dan: Posted May 2, 2010 Super User Posted May 2, 2010 the shimmster is still crushing it! very nice Troy. yeah, it seems dumb but all vehicles with powered thrust have to be registered. Are you going to be able to put a registration number on that raft? That might prove difficult! Quote
shimmy Posted May 2, 2010 Author Posted May 2, 2010 i have a boot on top of the raft as well so i have no idea how i am going to put the stickers on this thing. I was thinking about putting them on a folder and keeping them with me in the boat. Not sure if that will satisfy the hunger of the DNR though. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted May 2, 2010 Super User Posted May 2, 2010 Awesome fish Troy. Love the description of that lost 7. Quote
NewAngler Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 You were cool until I saw your hat. BS you used a senko though, much less a 3 incher. You got a fish finder on your sweet vessel? Quote

RockvilleMDAngler Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 You are really nailing them in that raft! Way to go! I used to fish exclusively out of a Sea Eagle inflatable boat and I got hassled all the time from the DNR about not having numbers on it. I had it registered but could not put the decals on it, I just made sure that I always had my registration card in my wallet so that I could show them I had it taken care of. Be sure to also have a PFD, noise making device (whistle will work), flare, etc because they will ticket you if you don't have everything you are required to have. Quote
tcroot Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Nice fish. What really bothers me is. That where i live ppl ride up. and down the road in there golf carts. Yet they don't have to be registered. But if you put a trolling motor on boat, and take it on the river, or pond. It has to be registered. Just doesn't make since. Quote

Drill a couple holes for carabiners, put the stickers on it,and then attach the carrabiners to the outside of your boot when you launch. That is what I did when I put a trolling motor on my kickboat.
