Super User dodgeguy Posted April 19, 2010 Super User Posted April 19, 2010 titicus 4-18-10 water temps were down to 55 degrees from last weeks 58.this reservoir keeps confusing me.no matter where i go on it i cannot mark fish.even with my fishmark on fish id all you see are tiny fish.the bass must be hugging the bottom.there were no fish on beds or shallow at all.today the wind was horrible all day.even with the anchor down you got blown around.rowing was a definite back workout.i did manage to catch 2 fish on a lipless rattlin rapala 1/2 oz shad pattern.one was 3lbs which i didn't get a picture of and here's the 5-14 that made it worth all the work !!! Super User Paul Roberts Posted April 19, 2010 Super User Posted April 19, 2010 Congrats! Very nice northern bass. What depth was she at? FYI: The drop in water temp was most likely due to the wind, not the weather trend. Sonar suggestions: Fish ID will not find you fish, esp bass. It's fine for suspended fish, away from cover or bottom. Turn off the Fish ID and spend time looking at bottom changes, and hardness. It's possible to see bass on clean flat bottom, but it gets tougher with rough bottoms or variable depth. Quote
Super User dodgeguy Posted April 20, 2010 Author Super User Posted April 20, 2010 15 feet but bait was around 4 feet deep.thanks for the advice.i never use fish id.i only turned it on out of curiosity.i think most of the fish are to close to the bottom to show up. Quote

That's still very impressive, why do the fish at titicus seem to be bigger than surrounding reservoirs? Is there any reason that there may be less fish? Quote
bassman31783 Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Really pretty fish. Congrats. Great point Paul. When I first got electronics on my boat I always tried to find fish to catch & never really succeeded doing it that way. Now I use it to find bottom changes & hardness like you stated and low & behold my catch rate from using my electronics has gone up 100x. Quote
