bryand82487 Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 My buddy and I headed out this morning to fish a lake near his house. We caught between 25 and 30 bass. Most were around a 1lb 1/2. All were caught on june bug colored lizards. About 30 minutes before we were leaving I hooked into this one. Quote

Steezy, I'm planning on coming Monday and fishing with you guys for the day unless something unforeseen comes up. I'd really love to take the week off and fish with you guys but unfortunately my company is in the middle of a major project so I'm not able to take much time off right now. :'( Quote
bryand82487 Posted April 12, 2010 Author Posted April 12, 2010 I feel like my scale is off but maybe it's just because I haven't caught many big fish. The scale said he weighed in at 5lbs. Does that sound about right? I was thinking closer to 6 but maybe not. I was weighing it with a Berkley 50lbs digital scale. Quote
pitchNbass Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 When you catch a bunch of 1-2lb bass and hook into a 5lber it will look huge. I was gonna guess 4 1/2 lbs. Quote
Bigs Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 between 4.5 and 5 pounds but no more. Long fish but looks like she hasnt been eating too good. With a full belly that would be over 6 pounds. Very nice and bigger then anything I have caught so far this year. Congrats. Quote

Guess I haven't caught a decent one in so long that I'm a little off on weights. Is it safe to say that that is a male fish? From what I've read when they make the beds before spawn it often causes their tails to bleed like this one in the photo. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 13, 2010 Super User Posted April 13, 2010 Well now, I was with you last fall when you landed your PB smallmouth. That was a fine fish! 8-) Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted April 13, 2010 Super User Posted April 13, 2010 No matter the scale, that's a great catch! 8-) Quote

The females are usually twice the size give or take. Most the bucks I see are under 3 pounds. Oh and hey didnt I sell you a shimano core a while back ? Quote
bryand82487 Posted April 16, 2010 Author Posted April 16, 2010 Yep I fished with it today and love it! Quote
