Finally...first decent bass of the year, a 17inches 4.2lb female hooked on senko. Caught few small bass as well, total comes to 6 bass from 4 hours of fishing.

I have to thank everyone on Bass resource, and my special thank you goes to Roadwarrior. Last year, I was fishing for Sunfish and crappie. Now, with the help of everyone on Bass resource I have started to catch some decent size bass. And thank you Roadwarrior for posting your tips on how to fish Ika and Senko.

Nice bass!

But...considering all the threads lately on calibrated scales, and not trying to be a...party pooper -a 17incher of good body condition (like the one in your pic) should weigh around 2-3/4lbs. I've seen some pics of 17 and even 16 inchers that break 4lbs. They look like bluegills in bass colors ;D.

Again, a very nice bass. Congrats. :)

Go to the fitness area and try some 2 and 5lb weights (in a plastic shopping bag). I bought a 2 and two 5's at a flea market for cheap, and can check my scale at 2, 5, 7 and 10lbs with them.  This way I can keep my scale on target -they do drift.

darn it. My berkley scale is all messed up...

I weighted 10lb weight, and the scale reads 11.2. Then on 5lb weight, it read 6.1.

Man, this is not a 4lb fish...I was getting so excited...
