JigMe Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Finally...first decent bass of the year, a 17inches 4.2lb female hooked on senko. Caught few small bass as well, total comes to 6 bass from 4 hours of fishing. I have to thank everyone on Bass resource, and my special thank you goes to Roadwarrior. Last year, I was fishing for Sunfish and crappie. Now, with the help of everyone on Bass resource I have started to catch some decent size bass. And thank you Roadwarrior for posting your tips on how to fish Ika and Senko. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted April 10, 2010 Super User Posted April 10, 2010 Wow that's a heavy bass for a 17". Quote
looking4structure Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 WTG Lee Big O www.ragetail.com x2.Great fish.Gotta love the Senko. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted April 10, 2010 Super User Posted April 10, 2010 Nice bass! But...considering all the threads lately on calibrated scales, and not trying to be a...party pooper -a 17incher of good body condition (like the one in your pic) should weigh around 2-3/4lbs. I've seen some pics of 17 and even 16 inchers that break 4lbs. They look like bluegills in bass colors ;D. Again, a very nice bass. Congrats. Quote
JigMe Posted April 10, 2010 Author Posted April 10, 2010 haha, yeah. my Berkley scale "should be" ok...I hope...maybe I should take it to walmart and weight some stuff. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted April 10, 2010 Super User Posted April 10, 2010 Go to the fitness area and try some 2 and 5lb weights (in a plastic shopping bag). I bought a 2 and two 5's at a flea market for cheap, and can check my scale at 2, 5, 7 and 10lbs with them. This way I can keep my scale on target -they do drift. Quote
JigMe Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 where did you fish tx rig senko or wacky? 4 on weightless wacky, 1 on t-rig senko, 1 on swimming senko 1/8 bullet weight. Centennial lake Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted April 11, 2010 Super User Posted April 11, 2010 Shoulda thrown that weightless Fat Ika to catch the 10 lb'r..lol j/k....nice fish..it only gets better.. Quote
pitchNbass Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Check your scale. Here is my gf's PB 4.3lbs last year. Unless my scale is broke? Nice fish tho! Keep throwin those senkos Quote
JigMe Posted April 11, 2010 Author Posted April 11, 2010 darn it. My berkley scale is all messed up... I weighted 10lb weight, and the scale reads 11.2. Then on 5lb weight, it read 6.1. Man, this is not a 4lb fish...I was getting so excited... Quote
pitchNbass Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 I've taken back an off scale before. Of course that was walmart, where you can take back used diapers. Quote
