As a few of you know I went out to Lake Fork the 28th-30th last month & did quite well. On the 31st my dad & I decided to get away from the craziness of Lake Fork & went out to a small lake in Van Tx. Very relaxing day. We had the lake to ourself for the 3hrs we were out. We managed to put 7 fish in the boat with these 2 going for 4lbs & 6lbs 8oz.

Man they tasted good....just kidding. :D

We took pics & immediately released them & they swam away just fine to be caught another day.

Very nice!

Where were they? How deep? Is that 6-8 a ~post-spawner? How were you fishing?

The 4lbs was in 6' of water out in the middle of a flat about 40 yards off shore.

When I first got the 6-8 in the boat I immediately thought that it had been spawning but not completely finished.  However the more I look at the pic I think she might have been done.  She was in about 3' of water on a point right at the edge of the flat where I caught the 4lbs bass.

Both bass were caught using an *** Jaw Jack swimbait 5" in the Firetiger color.  I usually use the Shad color but since the water was real murky I thought that the Firetiger would be a more visible profile.  Seemed to work good because my dad didn't catch any while using the Shad color but when he switched to the Firetiger he boated 2 in about 20min.  I was fishing them real slow letting it bump along the bottom.
