SWH Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I went out today for the first time for about 45 - 1 hour just to get out. I got a rod and reel for Christmas and just got 50 bucks worth of lures. I went out and tied on the new lip less crank threw it out as far as i could from the bank about 10 or so cranks i feel dead weight and originally think i am snagged and then i think well at least the tree limb is coming in and i wont loose the lure. All the sudden i see it boil and then start fighting! Fish on one hell of a start to the season. It was about 1-1.5 pounds on my cheesy scale which isn't very accurate. Seemed a little bit heavier but I'll go with the 1.5 or pound. Will have to invest in a more expensive accurate scale now. Anyway just thought i would share! loving that fishing is warming up again around here! Quote
SWH Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 Sorry meant to put this in the Fishing Outting heading please feel free to move Quote
BassThumb Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 You're gonna hurt the fish by hooking the gill plate like that. :-/ Quote
tnbassfisher Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 About the size of the fish I caught today. It finally made 2010 fishing season get underway. Quote
b.Lee Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Hey I would take that, beggers can't be choosers. Quote
bigfruits Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 good job! if thats the same fish thats on your avatar pic, you need a new scale! Quote
Nicky Greece Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Nice fish dude... Hope I can start the year the same way bro. Quote
SWH Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 Ok so i am sorry i just got the scale and it was the first time i have ever had a scale i will go and find the proper way to scale a fish. I was just overly excited. That being said i am glad the others of you got on his case. I am not one to hurt a fish and excitment sometimes gets in the way get over it the fish was out of the water for 20 seconds! anyway i hope this is the sign of things to come with a successful season! I am getting a new scale though it is def more than a pound but that is what you get with a cheap scale. Anyway thanks again to everyone! Quote
