What a day!!! I fished the Potomac with my girl today. On the water from 12-3pm (not the best starting time, she likes her sleep). Started off fishing chunk rock in 55* water. Did very well there with traps and jigs. Pulled around 12 in the first hour. I worked a few lay downs on gravel points. Most fish there were holding tight to wood. I also took a few on outside edges of old grass. I never really ventured out of a 500-700 yard span. I caught 24 total in about 3 hours. My best 5 probably went a little over 20 lbs!!! Everything was on jigs and traps.

Very nice catch. What a great way to start off the season on the Potomac. My boat should be out of the shop by the end of this coming week, I'll be out there too. My friends have been catching dozens and dozens of 3-5 pounders in mattawoman creek this past week. I cant wait to get out there. I guess it's time to kiss Lake Anna goodbye for now.

Looks like an awesome day!  I fished the river both days this weekend and caught them on traps Saturday but Sunday the trap bite died so I caught them on a black and blue jig on wood cover in 8 feet of water.  Biggest was around 4.  Had I known Pohick was on fire I would have saved gas and not run to Mattawoman!

Thanks guys! I can't wait until all the grass really starts to come in...
