A buddy and I made our first trip of the year today to a small lake about 15 minutes from the house. Fished from 1:30 til 5:30 and ended up catching 6 largemouth. Caught the first fish at 3:40, a nice, healthy, 15 incher. About three casts later, I felt a slight tick, reeled up some slack and set the hook on the beauty in the pic below. She ran hard to the left, went airborn, and then ran back to the right. After a nice fight, I lipped her and brought her aboard. Bonehead me forgot the scales!! She was 21 1/4" long and had a girth of just under 14". Pretty skinny, she hadn't even begun to fill out yet. Not surprising though, the ice just got off the lake 3 days ago. Nothing like some of the hawgs some of you guys down south catch, but she's a dandy for a buckeye!! The other five were all between 13" and 16" and all of them including the big one fell for a texas rigged electric blue sweet beaver. What a relief, the freakin' ice is gone and the bass are hittin'!!   :D :D

Way to go !

I am very jealous - the snows gone and we're still working on the ice.
