NewFishinDad Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Took two of my boys out today, first time I've ever been out fishing. Wasn't planning on taking my 2 year old but he really wanted to. Glad I did he had a blast reeling in the bobber. I didn't get in many casts myself but I did get to break in my new rod. I can't wait til all the all ice clears up. I had a blast. Quote
Super User 5bass Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Good stuff! I'm shocked the little guy was sitting still like that....my son at 2 had the attention span of a mad monkey. Quote
NewFishinDad Posted March 7, 2010 Author Posted March 7, 2010 That was before he learned pinecones float. ;-) Now I ned to learn what a strike feels like, I think i had one or two, but it was tough to tell, I was fishing with a 1/2 oz jig. I guesss I'll have to practice more. Quote
Deb Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Those are the good times! Start 'em young and keep taking them as long as they want to go. ALWAYS keep the trips short and fun. Great pics! Quote
Super User Sam Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Zebco! You have the guys fishing with a Zebco??? No way. Shimano Stradic 2500 spinning rell for both of them on a nice six-eight Cumara medium heavy fast action stick. Start them off right with Shimano's. I am sure your wife will understand. ;D ;D ;D Quote
Super User bassfisherjk Posted March 7, 2010 Super User Posted March 7, 2010 Good for you! It's great to see a Dad, or anyone for that matter getting kids out to fish. Some great pictures also. Quote
ilovefooffur Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Hahhaah..very cool. I can't wait to take my boys out. Quote
bassman31783 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Good times. Keep on taking them & once you start catching fish they'll really be hooked. Quote
IwillChooseFreeWill Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Looks like fun. I have 2 daughters (ages 2 and 7) that I try to get out when possible as well. Have not had much chance or location for my 2 year old yet this year but I plan to this summer. Quote
caseyman Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 That was some pretty nice pictures. Did you guys catch anything? Quote
pitchNbass Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 I pray for the day when I can do that. Awesome! Quote
paul. Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 good job dad. we'll be seing pics of them holding fish soon i'm sure. either way, it's the fun and togetherness that counts. Quote
Red Bear Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 i think taking kids fishing is great even if it doesnt leave me much time to fish myself. everytime my niece visits i have to take her down to the pond to fish, shes not quite ready for artificial so i usually just get some nightcrawlers and target the bluegill and still usually get a some bass. last year she caught her first bass and was so excited. Sam would be happy to know she was using a lightweight shimano spinning setup this year i plan to work on her casting...and patience haha... Quote
