It finally warmed up enough to spend a little time out yesterday. Water temp was 40. Started out throwing jerk baits, Greg had the first taker

Getting your string pulled is a good start. The bigger ones will follow.  :)

It's always good to get the first one of the year , like RW said rat-l-traps should be in the mix this time of the year.

From what I've been hearing a shad rap on rock banks worked real slow is catching them good. This is coming from the Paris Landing area and I believe you live on the northern part of the lake.  It's not quite right for the rattle traps yet, but it's close.

Here's my first two fish of this year. The one on the left hit 4#. All of my fish Saturday came off of a red Cotton Cordell Super Spot. Some big fish caught, it took 20.96lbs to win that day!

Yeah, I thought you might like that. He will be ready for his first fishing trip soon. He now says "fishie" when we watch our fishing shows.

Good luck this weekend!

cool post.  nice fish.  rw and others are right.  the trap was workin' for us on ky lake back when the temps were in the 30's so i'm sure it's workin' now too.  the real hot bait for me and the guys i fish with has been the square bill shallow running crank.  also been catchin' on finese jigs.  i am done bass fishing on the river for the most part as long as i can catch stripers though. ;D

on another note - real nice fish braden!  congrats bud. :)

The lake looks low.  I'm surprised considering the amount of rain we've had this winter.  Nice way to start off the season!!

The lake is at winter pool ....... actually, slightly above. They will start to bring it up soon. The plan is for them to start bringing it up about the first of April. I hope it stays down and it doesn't get too high. It was high last year for too long and it messed up the vegetation on the upper part of the lake.

I agree. I hope it stays low for a little while to let the grass take good hold. Looking forward to another great year on the lake.

Good luck in your BFL this weekend Deb!

Me and Bryan put the boat in for the first time this year, out of Boswell across from Paris on Saturday and it was pretty slow for us.  We both caught a couple short fish on jigs, and he got 1 short one on a shad rap.  He caught a HUGE pickerel on the shad rap and I caught a 6lb drum on a nishiki (clown) LC pointer.  I'm gonna post some pics later.  I hope this weather finally holds cuz it's about to get real nice real soon!

Nice pictures! I love watching them in clear water... it drives me crazy!

Happy to see more and more people thawing out from the winter and coming out to get some lines wet

Nice to see the lake when the wind isn't howling at 30 mph like it was at last years roadtrip. Good luck to you guys. Hope to see you at Pickwick.
