Big-O Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 And it was great about 35 fish a day average but locating the bigguns was not easy as they are transitioning from deep to shallow and the weather was extremely erratic. First 3 days fished alone and tested a few new baits....caught some nice ones but can't post photo's cause they have the baits in their mouth Then Clay Carver (wounded Warrior from Iraq) came down to join me for a few days, we fought the weather changes and caught'em anyway. Most of our fish were caught flipping Smokin Roosters, Rage Hawgs, Space Monkeys, Lobsters and C rigging the Eeliminator....sounds like a Hybrid Zoo huh. For flipping, we were using 1/2 oz weights with Bobber Stoppers to hold weight in position. Used Suffix 20 lb. deep cranking line in clear water conditions and Suffix 50 lb braid in stained water. Had one sunny day and took a tackle shop manager fishing with us and attached a photo of him below with his biggest of the day. He said the "Smokin Rooster" is now his best friend Didn't have a scale but it was way over 10 We had hoped that the weather would cooperate a little more and give us a few warm calm days but it didn't happen. Won't be long and I'll be back down there to heat'em up again. Check out the photo of my rig when I finally made it home....and this is South Central Texas.....must be all that Global Warmin' stuff causing all this snow and cold weather. Also a photo of a "True Largemouth" from my 1st morning. Hope y'all are catchin'em too Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted February 12, 2010 Super User Posted February 12, 2010 What kind of temps were ya fishin? Wind? I'd spend a day on the water for a hog like that when I ever find the time again. Looks like you at least got decent rubber for the weather. Brian Scratch the wind, looks like that wasn't much of an issue. Quote
Big-O Posted February 12, 2010 Author Posted February 12, 2010 Brian, had only one day without wind and it made for a great day to have a guest on the boat Quote

I'm glad he got the chance to know what the big Rage is all about! Quote
Dalton Tam Posted February 13, 2010 Posted February 13, 2010 Thats a monster man. I can't wait to take a trip to Falcon. Quote
HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 Very nice LM! What were the water temps? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 14, 2010 Super User Posted February 14, 2010 Man, what a trip! Most of us just dream of a bass that size. 8-) Quote
ring fry Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Very nice LM! What were the water temps? I was down there the 8th thru the 11th. Started out in the low to mid 60's then dropped to 57 - 60 when the cold wind came through. Quote
Big-O Posted February 16, 2010 Author Posted February 16, 2010 We probably crossed wakes ;D as I was there at the same time. Found water temps just as you noted and on both sides of the lake. Up river or down river didn't seem to make much difference either, as long as the water wasn't real dirty the fish seemed active enough Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
bassman31783 Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 35 fish a day average with a monster like that, yeah i'd say that's a good trip. Awesome job. Quote
WoolleyBass Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Man, what a trip! Most of us just dream of a bass that size. 8-) I think we all dream of a bass that size lol. Roby Quote
IwillChooseFreeWill Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 looks great, and nice catch! I would love to pick up some of those lures but I hate spending money on a 10 pack and the other 7-9 sit in the pack and don't get used for some time since I am more of a weekend warrior (I typically get out once or twice a month when my work schedule and wife allows)... Just buy one bag at a time...Maybe start with the Smokin' Rooster? Keep the baits in their original package and store them in a drawer or closet in the house (out of the sun and at a relatively constant temperature). Rage Tail plastics will last indefinitely if you don't use them! 8-) Quote
IwillChooseFreeWill Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 lol thats part of the problem... I have so many "one bags of..." that I tend to start throwing them away after a year or two... ;D I have started writing dates on the newer bags so once they hit around 6 months old I will either buy new ones if they caught something or just toss them. Super User roadwarrior Posted February 18, 2010 Super User Posted February 18, 2010 Well, we have all bought stuff we thought "might work". One of the many attributes of the Forum is getting solid advice from guys sharing "what works!" Ask around and I think you will find a lot of Rage Tail fans. Many of Big O's baits are cutting edge, not just copies of someone else's baits. 8-) Quote
IwillChooseFreeWill Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 shhhhh I am trying to score some freebies Quote
