After my first trip of the year I decided to take another trip down to the same lakes. After about 30 minutes without a bite we figured out the pattern, which was point hopping. Isolated Cypress trees on each point had a fish or two around them. This pattern is very unusual for this time of year since everything that I have read from Catt and some of the other "Big Timers" on the site. I don't understand why these fish weren't in the backs of the coves in the warmer more shallow water. Instead they were in suspended about two to three foot on points.???? Any clue? Any way here is the picture from the second trip of the year and I am proud of my buddy for catching this fish. Again... I had no scales but she was a solid 5lbs if not a little heavier.

Man, if I had water like that to fish I would never leave. Good job guys. 8-)

No kidding. So 2-3 ft isnt shallow? It is where I'm at. You'll have fish setting up on points before they move into the pockets to spawn. Looks like you've found a dependable prespawn pattern. Nice fish guys!

Right on. And by looking at those trees and that area in the picture, if it protected from a northern wind they will just spawn right there around the bases of those trees. Did you have a water temp?

That's a beauty.

I've fished a bunch, down in the bayous. Looks like Chicot Lake.

When I retire, I'm coming down to Cajun country!
