steezy Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 It was 38 degrees this morning at 7am in Dallas,TX and still managed to catch several 2 # LMB as well as a 3# baby. Caught all of them 7-7:30am on a silver/blue rat-L-trap. in 3-5 feet of water except for the big one and he was in 8" of water. I though I made a bad cast into the shallows but he hit it as soon as the lure hit the water. Who said Bass don't bite in the winter ! Quote
DEbassman17 Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 looks like somethin' bigger tried to grab him ! Quote
paul. Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 since when is a 3 pounder a baby? dude that's a very nice fish. to me it's even more rewarding to catch 'em shallow in the winter when you're not "supposed to". congrats big time. Quote
L a r r y Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Steezy.....very nice catches there. I've been getting my you know what kicked lately. I've been back to commons a couple of times, and have caught maybe 2, 1 pounders. And have gone out to Lewisville and the only thing I've hooked into are some Sandies. Very nice catches Quote
Super User KYntucky Warmouth Posted November 27, 2009 Super User Posted November 27, 2009 yeah...well...it snowed a little here last night and frosted this morning and 38 is our high for today I don't think they're biting here nice catch for upper 30's Something wanted that fish and it looks like it got it hard. Super User fishfordollars Posted November 29, 2009 Super User Posted November 29, 2009 I was in Dallas for the week. You're right, it was cool in the mornings, but warmed up quickly. I hit the Garland BPS on Lake Ray Hubbard at 6:45 Friday morning and did not walk out until 11:05. I'd tell you how much I spent, but I'm afraid the wife would see it. Two things I did buy was the XPS rain jacket that they had on sale for 59.84(Regularly 90.00+) and one of the zip up tournament jackets with a hood for 19.95(39.95). I thought both of those were good buys. I took the boat with me, but never put it in the water. Quote
Rebel Angler Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Solid fish man...I'd take it any day of the week Quote
steezy Posted December 6, 2009 Author Posted December 6, 2009 39 degrees and they are still biting here in Dallas,TX. Black Craw Jigs and Silver Rat-L-Traps Caught a few today, this was the biggest. Quote
L a r r y Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Steezy, I responded to your message on Friday, and was on my way to Commons. Windy, cold, but the sun was out. Did I mention how cold it was?? My fingers were blue after about an hour. Needless to say, I got skunked, but you are still pulling them in. CONGRATS on some nice catches Quote
steezy Posted December 9, 2009 Author Posted December 9, 2009 Freezing this morning, 26 degrees, wind chill 17 degrees. There still taking the Rat-L-Traps. Caught several between 6:30-7:30am. I could only take 1 hour in these temps. The water was freezing on the line and lure when I was taking the fish off the lure. Quote
steezy Posted December 12, 2009 Author Posted December 12, 2009 It was 39 degrees this morning but still managed to catch 5 in about an hour. Shallow cranks 4-6 feet deep and hard into the bottom. This 3# was the best of the morning. Quote
fishinfewl Posted December 14, 2009 Posted December 14, 2009 Nice fish! Unfortunately I'm too much of a whimp to go out this time of the year. Quote
