So i have been bass fishing 9 times in 2009 so far.

I made a couple trips to Clear Lake in the last few weeks. Got probably 25 fish in those two night trips on swimbaits, but they were all between 3 and 5 pounds. No pics. Lots of driving and no big fish, wasnt all that fun. My buddy did pop a 15.1lb Channel Cat on a swimbait though, that was pretty entertaining.

But the trip I really wanted to post about was the day after thanksgiving. Made the quick run to my favorite little dink factory in the rain at about noon. We ran three deep in my buddies boat and just beat bank all day. I threw one of Gman's widegap jigs all day long with a yammy trailer. BuddyA had 2 fish, BuddyB caught the skunk. Somehow I managed about 12 fish. But amazingly, I found some quality fish, probably 15lbs for 5. I would say that on most days, even when i get 30 fish, the best 5 would go 6-8lbs on this lake.

Fish were in 5-15ft and for the most part they would craftily pick it up and swim toward you. Jedi senses were necessary to pick up the mushy jig bite.

This was the biggest of the day, a 4-9, which is one ounce smaller than the biggest fish I have ever caught at this lake, even though I have fished here probably 50 times.

I dont usually weigh anything that looks under 6, and I sure dont make a post about it; I just wanted to point out that even small fish and a slow bite can still be a blast. My favorite bass trip of 2009 wasnt a 20 swimbait fish day, or the trip that kicked an 8+, it was a cold day of mushy jig bites from dinks, lol. ;D

Pretty cool! I really like that slow bite on plastics during the winter. It's fun trying to concentrate on your line and lure that hard. It'll keep you sharp. Nice post and pics! And that's still a nice fish anywhere.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Poor thing only 25 dinks between 3-5lbs in 2 nights sounds terrible!  ::)

Pretty impressive fish for that lake.  Figured the only fish above 2.5#'s were the carp lol.

BTW -   I'm ready for some big spots on DS!!!  Lets go hit the underwater bridge soon... It's about time.

I would take one of those dinks any day. Come over this way and you will realize how big that fish is.

That's what I was thinking.
