Went jig fishing for first time yesterday.  I must say the morning started off well.  We put in and trolled over to our first spot.  A concrete bridge with two manmade rock points below it.  I pitched to the concrete ledge, let the jig sink, let it sit, gave it a quick flutter and BAM!  My first Hog was on.  Got him to about 5 ft from the boat and he came off.  I didn't let him deter me.  I pitched right back into the same spot, let it sink, gave it a quick flutter and BAM another fish on the line.  Got it to the boat around a 2 lb fish.  Looked healty and had great color.  I put the fish back in the water and sent it on its way.  Repeated process and BAM another hit but I missed him.  Needless to say the morning went great and I am a firm believer in jig fishing.

Haha this is what who you reminded me of when i read your post.

Anyways congrats on the outing! Did you lose those fish from the line breaking or they just came off? If they just came off try trimming up the weedgaurd a little bit and it might help.

Came off, I am guessing from not setting the hook well.  I am used to fishing with mostly crank baits so you don't have to set the hook so hard.  I'll look into trimming the weedguard.
