Simp Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Paul truly is the Jedi Master Yoda. Not only is he a skilled Jedi angler he grows these young Padawans to enormous size. May the Fish be with you my friend. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted November 15, 2009 Super User Posted November 15, 2009 Great catch man! No,not preachy at all. In my opinion, (and I could be wrong for telling somebody what to do with their fish :) ,I think it is a crying shame how so many people just don't get it,especially in small waters. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Nice fish!!! Out of curiosity, what was your setup? And how does that minnow cast? I'm deffinatly lookin' into those. Again, great fish!!!!! Quote
paul. Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 that's one of the really cool things about this bait. it's a swimbait that does not require specialized swimbait equipment. here's what i've been throwing it on. pfleuger trion baitcast reel. 20 lb. berkley big game (green) gander mtn 6'6" med. hvy. fast action rod. the minnow casts very well with a 4/0 1/4oz. weighted swimbait hook. not quite like a rattletrap mind you, but not bad at all. trust me, you'll get plenty of distance out of it. Dr Pigg Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Great post on catch and release bass management. Why take a big fish home? Be selfish and put it back--you'll have more confidence everytime you return to that lake. With a picture,wt., and length--a replica is to easy and just makes more sense! Paul--one of the best posts in the last month---THANKS Quote
ilovefooffur Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 That girl is humungus!!! Nice catch. Quote
NewAngler Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 You're the man, Paul. Plain and simple. Quote
brushhoggin Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 i will admit it.........i'm jealous Quote
Mattlures Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 i think Paul needs to teach me how to use my baits I think he catches more fish then I do. Paul you couldnt be more right. I managed a couple ponds years ago and the formula realy is that simple. Soo many people think the only reason the bass get so big in Cali is the trout. That is part of it but they dont realize how much C&R of trophy bass is practiced here. I have heard of tires being slashed from sombody who kept a big bass. I remember I got in an internet argument with aguy who actualy said you should keep all the big bass so the little ones could grow big. Sometimes its like trying to reason with a drunk. You obviously get it and are reaping the benefits of proper management and skills with the rod. Thanks for posting about the minnow! Quote
mrlitetackle Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 paul. you kill me man! what'a beast, congrats on another wonderful fish!!!! Quote
