Sunday afternoon Matt and I hired our oldest to do a little babysitting for us so we could get out and do a little fishing since the weather was supposed to be around 65 degrees with an abundance of sunshine. What a great day it was too.

We decided to try Shawnee Lake since neither of us has been there in a while. We started off fishing in deeper water which is where I was sure the fish would be holding but after a little time had passed without so much as a bite we decided it was time for a change of plans.

We ended up heading up the lake to where the creek feeds into it. The water was much shallower up here but I was hoping for success. We followed along the main channel and fished all along the edges of it. I was pleasantly surprised to at the amount of fish activity along here. Finally we had some success. I ended up with the first fish of the day and it was a snotrocket. I just love catching snotrockets. ;D This one kind of bit me back and left my finger bleeding a bit but oh well it was worth it.

It was not long and my husband had the first bass of the day and the biggest bass for the day as well.

We picked up a few more fish following the same pattern. I must say the warmer temps were such a pleasant surprise for November fishing. I think this time last year I was wearing a snowsuit on the boat. ;D I like yesterdays temps a whole lot better.  ;D

All the fish I caught today were caught on a smokin rooster. Love this bait. I usually fish it on a keel weighted hook and dip the tail in a little bit of spike it. I like to drag this one along the bottom pausing every so often to see if I have any takers and it always surprises me how hard the fish nail this bait.

All of my husbands fish were caught yesterday on the Junebug Rage hawg.

A few more pics of our day..

It seems every fish I have caught in the past few trips out lately have had really red lips. Not sure why.  Any ideas?

Really nice photos Ms M and glad you two had a chance to get out and enjoy fishing in some decent weather.....Red lips :) Maybe cooler water and feeding on the bottom prey is the reason but then again, they could be puckering up for a kiss :D
