Super User J Francho Posted November 11, 2009 Super User Posted November 11, 2009 Not with bass, but with larger species, such as steelhead and northern. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 11, 2009 Super User Posted November 11, 2009 Nope. But I still remember the big ones that got away. Really drives me nuts, too. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Make sure you have the drag set correctly, and a fish will never straighten a hook again :-) Quote
Thai Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 How do you know it was a bass if you never got to see it? Quote
32251 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Yes. Fly rod and small bream bug. Fish just kept moving and straightened the hook right out. That was 40 years ago. I can still see the strike and the line moving to the left of the boat and the rod tip going into the water. I was just a kid and did not know what to do. It was a thrill and a half. Quote
chubaka Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Wondered what it was, couldnt be a bass. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted November 12, 2009 Super User Posted November 12, 2009 That is a 3/0 Owner St-41 and a 150lb split ring. Use the frog for a size comparison. THAT was a bad day. She did that to me right at the boat, then I had to dodge a 10" missile flying back at me, lol. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted November 12, 2009 Super User Posted November 12, 2009 THAT was a bad day. Huge understatement! That sucks. Quote
