Super User Long Mike Posted May 5, 2009 Super User Posted May 5, 2009 Ahem? I had a hundred foot cord and two twenty-fives, with splitters. I think Scott had a two-hundred footer. I have no idea how many feet the other boaters carried, but we managed, barely. And now, Mr. Ahemer, how many feet of cord did you, personally, bring with you? Quote
Super User burleytog Posted May 5, 2009 Super User Posted May 5, 2009 0, but I did fix your charger problem while you were in the lobby enjoying your 'coffee'. ;D Quote
R520dvx Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 As a local ...... Kenlake would NOT have been my choice ..... Better accomodations elswhere on the lake. Quote

simplejoe Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Mike, I was one of them boaters who had 300 feet of cord and a couple of splitters and I made sure every boat around me was plugged in and good to go. I was just saying in general I liked the lake and wished the weather cooperated so I could've discovered more than I did. ;D You guys take alot of time out of your personal lives for these roadtrips, between calling and visiting these places and for that I thank you. You'll never hear me disagree on where you have it. You say where it's at and I'm going. Next year though wherever it's at I think I'm taking two weeks, One to hang out with the BR crew and the second to discover the area. joe Quote
CJ Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Should we choose better boat accommodations for poor fishing? I'll take the blame for the grievances for the Ky. roadtrip. CJ Quote

I forgot you are strapping on the ball and chain! : I am truly sorry Wayne. Buy you a plane ticket before the big day! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted May 6, 2009 Super User Posted May 6, 2009 Lucky for me, Lauren encourages me to go on this trip. Obviously, she hasnt met the majority of you all. ;D The first year, she was nervous about the whole thing. Once she met Ronnie before the Guntersville trip, she was cool with the whole idea. Yet another thing to thank Alpster for. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted May 6, 2009 Super User Posted May 6, 2009 Should we choose better boat accommodations for poor fishing? I'll take the blame for the grievances for the Ky. roadtrip. CJ Don't worry about it CJ, I called down to the lodge several weeks before the road trip about the electricity along with boat parking and relayed in this thread what I was told by the person at the lodge. Most of what she said to me was true. I seem to recall I mentioned making sure everyone had plenty of extension cords and 3-ways. I guess the only bad part was all the outlets were on poles close to the lodge which so happens to be the best spots for cars to park. Quote
R520dvx Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Deb and I have learned to fish the whole lake, both lakes actually, so wherever the event was held, the fishing doesn't have to be "poor" ...... Plenty of places that are more boater friendly. Since I fished this lake for several years in plenty of large tournaments where we needed dozens of plug-ins, as an out of towner before I moved here I know there are some extremely boater friendly places. Seems the Elite Series, FLW Tour, Stren, BFL, BASS Weekend Series, USA Bassin Clasic, and dozens of others don't have problems ..... it;s all logistics. Deb and I offered plug-ins for boats. We hope this issue doesn't disqualify Kentucky/Barkley from future events. We really enjoyed meeting and hanging out with everyone!! Quote
lv2fish Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Any ideas about next year yet? Got to save and plan in advance. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted May 7, 2009 Super User Posted May 7, 2009 lv2fish, I guarantee you that will be another BR Road Trip next year. I can also guarantee you that LBH's recommendation for Mexico, Roawarrior's recommendation for Alaska and five.bass.limit's recommendation for Brazil have all been ruled out. We've narrowed it down to the lower 48. Will keep you advised. ;D ;D ;D Quote

Super User burleytog Posted May 7, 2009 Super User Posted May 7, 2009 She needs to meet me if she wants a true taste of BR. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted May 7, 2009 Super User Posted May 7, 2009 Ronnie, all the way down to the soles of his boots, is the most genuine guy I have ever met. He works from his heart and from his beliefs. He gives and asks nothing in return. The Alpster is one of the very few people on this site that I truly admire. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted May 7, 2009 Super User Posted May 7, 2009 Definitely one of the very few. Quote
Super User CWB Posted May 8, 2009 Super User Posted May 8, 2009 She needs to meet me if she wants a true taste of BR. If that ever happens the poor guy will be banned for life! ;D Also, If I recall there were a few slips available which Uncle Leo and myself took advantage of and it worked out great. Not very expensive either. CJ - how can you possibly think about taking blame. All your tips leading up to and during the trip helped everyone. Do wish I could have met Alpster. Sounds like one h*ll of a guy. Quote

While all three of those destinations are outstanding, they don't pay government workers all that much... Man, I can see that conversation play out in my head right now! "Hon, we can't really get any groceries for the next few months, but just think of how much fun I'd have bass fishing in Brazil!" I'll think of that next time I have the hiccups! Quote

Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted May 15, 2009 Super User Posted May 15, 2009 When this event going to be somewhere around buffalo, Oneida would be a good pick! I believe one of the criteria is a central location so as to maximize participation. There are plent that travel from the NE, see you next year!! Quote
