Super User cart7t Posted April 2, 2009 Super User Posted April 2, 2009 Man, what a day I had yesterday. First, my wife had my 11 year old Shih Tzu put down. She had been sick for around a month, loaded with stones in the kidneys and bladder. A $1000 surgery was out of the question. She had been in distress the past few days so the wife decided to do it now rather than wait till it became and emergency. Then, a dog I had been inquiring about became available yesterday afternoon. I drove 70 miles after work last night and got him. Took him to the vet after that. I got nothing done in preparation for the trip that I had planned yesterday. Oh well. The anticipation grows. Quote
R520dvx Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Sorry to hear about your Shih Tzu ..... always hard to lose a family member. Deb and I drove over 500 miles (round trip) Tuesday to a tiny burg called Boss, Mo. to pick up a puppy!! It cut into our fishin' time !!! Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted April 2, 2009 Super User Posted April 2, 2009 I got to go home early from work yesterday due to puking my guts out. I am currently trying to get right before tomorrow night.... Quote

Triton21 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Wow that is a messy week should make things interesting, Hey btw does anyone happen to know what the fuel Prices are at the Marina? It will be about double what you can get it for on land. Bring a gas can. Kelley Quote
CJ Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 The gas station is less than a mile away. I hope a cold front does come through! Makes the bass easier to find! WARNING!!! Please do not attempt to cross the main channel on any days that have strong winds slightly favoring the north or south on Ky. Lake! It may look like you can but, if you don't have the experience, please don't try it. Quote

Uncle Leo Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I think there's enough water on the west side to keep me and Coldwaterbassin safe. Quote

strikekinger Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 New to the site here and forum.... I would like to pass along that the posted above in yellow about Kentucky Lake is VERY True. PLEASE treat the lake with respect. For sure if the winds get out of the North or South much over 15 MPH, she get kinda nasty especially in the main river channel. Also, everything that look wide open and open water is not. Some areas have stumps, logs and shallow bars. Just last year during the Stren Series, I fished as a non-boater and the winds reached 35 to 40 mph and the tournament was NOT canceled...especially on day 3. I crossed with my partner up close to the Ky Dam area going through the canal to Barkley Lake and once we were in the middle of Ky Lake / main channel area, the swells were like 8 feet....yes 8 feet if not closer to 10. Ky Lake runs North/South and winds really get going there. I am from this area and fish the lake often. Just treat everything with respect, use common sense and everything will be ok. Have a good week !!!!! It's going to be very cool. Quote

Super User cart7t Posted April 2, 2009 Super User Posted April 2, 2009 Out of curiosity, what are name brand cigs going for down there now? Some folks at work are wanting me to make a run if they're cheap enough. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted April 2, 2009 Super User Posted April 2, 2009 It has been brought to my attention that I am now without a room for the week. If anyone has space please notify me! Note. I haven't called mattm yet but it looks like I'll have a room for myself. Both matt and Brent are looking towards not going due to the weather forecast. considering the distance they'll travel I won't hold them to their commitment. I will need a second person for that room if I'm to hold it. If another member is a third man in a 2 man room and wants a bed for themselves give me a PM immediately! Quote
strikekinger Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I just might do that on Monday afternoon. I am to meet Steve Parks ( Big O ) up there for a chat. I am on the Regional pro Staff at Strike King and I know Steve. Where are you folks meeting when someone comes in a speaks during your stay? Quote
