Btech Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 The Jerkbait craze will be over with? Darn Was hoping to test out the new box i built full of jerkbaits - hanvnt used a single one. Quote
Super User cart7t Posted March 21, 2009 Super User Posted March 21, 2009 cart7t .... I'd plan on fishing jigs, tubes, and creature baits on the east side of the lake ... maybe some cranks .... they're hitting jerkbaits right now but that will be over by the time you get here. Excellant. Exactly what I was planning on packing and I've restocked on some Chompers twin tails recently. Quote
CJ Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Green pumkin tubes cart7. Don't count the jerkbait out yet. SM will come up and nail a jerkbait when paused over their beds. They should be going on the beds soon. Gene, spinnerbaits, flukes, and t-rigged lizards or creatures. Bass will be bedding and feeding in these flowers! Makes there beds easy to find. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 22, 2009 Super User Posted March 22, 2009 CJ, sounds like the swimbait might be able to produce some decent fish if the weather keeps going this way. Opinions? Quote
Bud Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Btech, navigation will be fairly simple. All channels are marked just watch out for the points at the mouths of some bays. Not all of them are marked. I'll be glad to go over maps with anybody there the first night. I will be happy to give advice or opinions to any who ask about locations. CJ Be sure to show everyone were you got your lower unit ;D ;D Quote
CJ Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 LOL Bud! Wayne, I would say maybe a soft swimbait? I don't know...I ain't been able to catch any on one yet. Maybe cause I haven't given them their day in court. UPDATE! Shakeyhead worms and t-rigged craws are hot!!! Quote
Pitchinkid Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 set the camper up yesterday, got it all cleaned up and ready for the trip. even took a 15 minute nap in it just to test out the beds. Looks like everthing is a go. Anyone caught tampering with the camper while in Kentucky(Burley), will be beaten with soda cans in socks until they are no longer breathing. Quote

Pitchinkid Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I know how you feel man. Im super stoked. My wife is tired of hearing about it and cant wait to get me out of the house. I guess her b/f is wanting to come up. She still dont understand why a man needs 10 diffrent rods for diffrent presentations. She has figured out that Lucky Craft and MegaBass means alot of money and she not so happy with that part. But back to the subject, Kentucky is going to be a blast. I hope yall boys are ready for an awesome trip. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 23, 2009 Super User Posted March 23, 2009 I hear ya AJ. I think my fiance dislikes Shimano almost as much as Muddy does. She's not too fond of online tackle retailers either. If I had a dollar for every time I heard, "Do you really need that?".... Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted March 23, 2009 Super User Posted March 23, 2009 This road trip is my first, and I was confident that my tackle bags were more than enough for me. Wow, was I wrong. Everytime I read an update or go to the tackle board, it's back to the store. Today it's for a bigger bag. I want to do some panfishing down there. Up here it's small pinky type jigs or 1" soft baits (tubbies, twister tails) under a bobber, retreived slowly. Can anyone tell me what I would do better with down there? Thanks. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 23, 2009 Super User Posted March 23, 2009 I know around here, you really can't beat live minnows for crappie fishing. Small jigs should also work well. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 23, 2009 Super User Posted March 23, 2009 CJ or locals....What is the closest place to buy basic groceries and is there a Walmart near there? Quote

Thanks, around here it takes a dozen or so crappie for a one man meal. Hopin' i'm on to bigger and better things down there for at least one short crappie fishing tour. Quote

Super User Jimzee Posted March 23, 2009 Super User Posted March 23, 2009 Y'all looked at the list lately? There's a lot of people going this year. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 23, 2009 Super User Posted March 23, 2009 Just think Blaine, years from now we can look back and remember when there were only a few people that were in attendance... Ought to be interesting to see how big the event gets in the future. Quote
Triton21 Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I was at the 1st and 2nd trips. I think there were on 10 0r 12 of us at those two. I am sure LBH can probably tell us how many. Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 23, 2009 Author BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 23, 2009 Attendance will be more than double over last year! Quote

CJ Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 There is a small grocery store in Aurora. Thats just a couple minutes from the sight. Wal-Mart in Murray is about 20 minutes away. Crappie are caught best with live minnows under a bobber. They wil be shallow. Mealworms and crickets for bluegill and shellcrackers. Look for wood to catch crappie and little ditches or run offs for bluegill and shellcrackers. Quote
