CJ Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 There are plenty of spots to bank fish for cats and crappie. We can do that! I would prefer to stay in a well lit, public spot though! : LOL J/K. Quote
nboucher Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I was on the Fork trip two years ago, and want to reinforce what others have said about how much fun these trips are. The company is great, and all that time just fishing is the best teacher of all. Due family stuff, work, and lots of time renovating some rooms in the house, I haven't been on the boards much over the last year. But I just checked the Southwest site and there are indeed some great deals on flights to Nashville right now. I still don't know if I can get awayI've promised the family a big family trip this yearbut I'm sure going to try. Norman Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted January 17, 2009 Super User Posted January 17, 2009 For those who are undecided, I became a new member on this board just a few months before the 2nd Annual trip (Lake Fork.) I asked the same questions as some of you. e.g. Is this trip only for the "regulars" or can anyone attend? The response was "COME JOIN US!" It was not without more than a little trepidation that I decided to make the trip. Here I was, a newbie to bass fishing and a newbie to the board, heading off on a fishing trip with a bunch of guys and gals that I had never met. I HAD A GREAT TIME! I had so much fun and met so many great people that I resolved to never again miss another BR road trip if I could possibly help it. Last year I attended the Guntersville outing. Same results. I had a great time and met even more great people! Have you noticed that I haven't said a word about the fishing? That was fun also. If you can possibly make the KY trip, by all means do so. I promise, you will not be disappointed ... and you might even catch some bass. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Well put Mike! We are all from varied backgrounds with different personalities and tastes,...but we all love bass fishing and good camaraderie. That's a recipe for a fun, interesting time, let me tell you. And like Mike said,...the fishing can be fun too, lol. SIGN UP TODAY< YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!! Quote

Super User Jimzee Posted January 19, 2009 Super User Posted January 19, 2009 Just made my reservations at the Kenlake Campground, really amazing how easy it was online. The whole week (Sat. Apr 4 - Fri. Apr 10) is gonna cost $160.00...that's $40.00 a piece for the whole week. Pretty easy on the wallet for a week of fishing if you ask me. For those of you wanting to reserve online just go to the Kenlake Campground site and create an account, easy to do and takes about two minutes to reserve a campsite for the week. That offer still stands if anyone wants to use my tent for the week. I think tent camping is even cheaper. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted January 21, 2009 Super User Posted January 21, 2009 Check out the signup page on the Roadtrip website. Some of the best fishermen and coolest people you will ever meet. Super User Shane J Posted January 21, 2009 Super User Posted January 21, 2009 WOW!! This trip sounds amazing! I'm working on the wife to see if it would be possible, only 1232 miles separating us. Coming from N.H., do you think it would be better to tow my boat or rent one there? Quote
Super User burleytog Posted January 21, 2009 Super User Posted January 21, 2009 Check out the signup page on the Roadtrip website. Some of the best fishermen and coolest people you will ever meet. So when are the cool people going to be added to that page? :-? Quote

If you are going to drive then it's probably better to tow your boat. The difference in cost of gas to drive with or without a boat will be nowhere near as expensive as renting one after driving all that way. Also take into consideration what shape your trailer is in. If it's good then you're good. We hope to see you there. Quote

clipper Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Well, I got leave approved from work, checked with my wife, checked the calendar, reserved my campsite at the park, signed up and emailed the form to Alpster, and wrote a check for the registration. I even got the whole name on the "pay to" line of the check, which was quite an accomplishment . Now I can get my reels lubed and relined. I will be bringing my oldStratos. Looking forward to catching my first smallmouth. (Actually I caught an 8" smallmouth in a creek in NC, but I don't count it since it wasn't legal length. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 22, 2009 Super User Posted January 22, 2009 I'm excited that you are able to go clipper. This will be the first roadtrip for you and the second for your boat. ;D Quote

Hoytman#1 Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Kentucky Lake is great this time of year!! Hope everyone catches them good! Unfortunatly I am using all my vacation days for tournament fishing this year. But if it's cool I will try and come down Thursday morning and fish all day then swing by the lodge before I head home and meet some of you guys! Quote
Jim Grouch Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Everyones going to be sober the whole week right? ;D Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted January 22, 2009 Super User Posted January 22, 2009 It means I better bring my own George Dickel just in case it's a dry county. Quote
Jim Grouch Posted January 23, 2009 Posted January 23, 2009 It was a joke. I would hate for everyone to get too wild and crazy. Must be terrible...you know, fishing all day...hanging out with a bunch of great people...eating, having some drinks, telling lies...talking about how everyone else is at work...lol. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted January 23, 2009 Super User Posted January 23, 2009 If there are some who don't drink. Don't worry. You're not alone. Quote
