Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 26, 2009 Super User Posted March 26, 2009 I doubt that anyone has paid close attention, but R520dvx (Greg) and his wife Deb (Niksfishingmom) are residents at the lake. Has anyone noticed that they have, for weeks, been offering any assistance possible to the BR attendees? This couple has never met one of us, yet they have, and are, going out of their way to ensure that our trip will be the best it can be. My applause to the both of you. I'm very much looking forward to meeting you. Apparently someone noticed...Hmm, it seems that there is no "kiss up" or "brown noser" smiley Close enough. Thanks Greg and Deb. Quote

Btech Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 My tackle list is : What is in my box lol. I dont think ill get time to do some shoping unless someone knows a BassPro on the way from Charlotte to Kentucky Lake Quote
R520dvx Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Thanks Mike and others for the kind words. Deb and I are blessed to wake up every morning to the sun rising over Kentucky Lake. We met on a boat ramp and got married in a floating chapel on the lake. Deb's father commercial fished this lake for years. So, you see our love for this lake runs pretty deep. We did not register for the event partially out of stubbornness for an old issue, but mostly because we were supposed to have out of state company beginning Wednesday morning of that week. We found out yesterday that our company has cancelled their trip and now wish we would have registered. Â One of the reasons we fish is the fine folks that are involved in the sport. As locals, we want to do anything possible to help everyone have a GREAT and SAFE week here on Kentucky Lake. We hope to meet as many people as possible and do a little fishing. Greg Quote
Super User Alpster Posted March 26, 2009 Super User Posted March 26, 2009 OK folks, I have a rather bittersweet announcement to make. Your humble road trip coordinator has been overcome by unforeseeable circumstances and will not be able to attend this year's road trip. :'( I am a Land Surveyor and my work is tied directly to the housing and mortgage market. You all know what that looks like in this economy. It's a long story, but the net of it is, after being without work for many months now, I have miraculously landed some much needed work that will not allow me to be away next week. It breaks my heart to miss this trip, but I must be mature about it. I have this kid who has developed a daily eating habit that I haven't been able to break. This is good news for my family and just terrible timing for the road trip. As always, I have found that I can count on the BassResource.com family to help me out when I have a need. My good friend "LONG MIKE" has very graciously accepted my request to stand in the gap for me and take over the last minute details of getting the trip together for you guys. Long Mike has already done a wonderful job of coordinating roommates and boat seats and is the natural choice to step in and cover my butt on this one. I trust you will give Mike the same cooperation and supportive help you have extended to me. I will still be around and checking in on you hooligans, but it is important that you stay in touch with Mike if you have questions or need assistance. From now until the trip is done, Mike is "da man" and he is taking on a lot of responsibility, so if you want to be a help to me during this tough time, throw your support to Mike. I am counting on you guys to help Mike make this the best road trip yet. I will be watching the board to see the new PB pics, so don't let me down. God bless you all, Ronnie Quote
Btech Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Was looking forward to meeting you Alp, Although that is good news right now that you found work. Sorry Guess we will have to make a bassresource 4.5 Annual Roadtrip Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted March 26, 2009 Super User Posted March 26, 2009 Sorry to hear about that Ronnie. If I were in your shoes I would do the same thing. Believe me I know all about the crunch this economy has put on the housing market being in the lumber industry. It's great to hear some good news every once in a while. Mike, you sure you want to take the lead on this bunch of hooligans? ;D Quote
Triton21 Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Sorry you won't be there Ronnie but sometimes you do what you gotta do. Â Was looking forward to seeing you again. Kelley Quote

Super User Long Mike Posted March 27, 2009 Super User Posted March 27, 2009 Alpster, thanks for having the confidence in me to fill your shoes - they are big shoes to fill. Â Since you have already laid the groundwork, I figure all I have to do is to dot a few T's and cross a few I's. Â Quote
SMfisher Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 sorry Ronnie to hear that you won't be at the road trip but am glad you go work, was looking forward to meeting you in person. thanks for all the hard work. maybe get to meet in roadtrip 5. Quote
CJ Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I totally understand Ronnie. Sorry you won't be making it and I'm sure Mike will fill in just fine. If there is anything I can do to assist you Mike, let me know. Update on the tackle list: Hard jerkbaits in a shad color or something with some chartuese 1/2 Rat-L-Traps in a chartuese or red color Barkley is on fire so I'm told. Hard jerkbaits are the ticket followed up with a jig. Most of the fish are pre-spawn and are holding fairly shallow on both lakes. I was out for a few hours today on Ky. Lake. I caught several on t-rigged craws (Ragetail craw in watermelon red flake) but, no good fish today. I felt like the fish were moving around a little bit on me. They seemed to want a 1/2 oz. rat-l-trap. I was throwing an Excalibur in royal shad. These fish were relating to grass near creek channels or points in about 2-3 ft. of water. Water temps on Ky. were as high as 63 in the shallower water. The lake is still rising. Kent, I'm looking foward to the new lures you mentioned and I think an Ika will catch em'. CJ Quote
ProCrafter Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Very Sorry to hear you will not make it Ronnie, But thank goodness for the work you have recieved in this recession and you know what?...The fish will be wherever you are!! Thanks so much for all the work you folks have done as this too, is my first Roadtrip and look forward to helping out in future ventures. Larry. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted March 27, 2009 Super User Posted March 27, 2009 Mike, are you filling in for the Monday dinner or will it be a "on your own" night? Â I am sure I could come up with something if need be. Â Let me know. Jimzee and AJ, I will be bringing some more cooking stuff now if that is ok with you. Â If you dont mind, may I hook up to one of the propane bottles for cooking some of my stuff. If anyone is still interested in helping out for the Tuesday dinner, please let me know. Â I would like to compile a list of food contributions so that I know what I still need to get. Mike, get in touch if you need anything from me. Quote
