BassDeaton01 Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 My father-in-law knows a guy that owns a lot of property near his house that has three lakes on it. He has cow pastures with gates all around his property and knows who comes on and off his property. Well we fished one of the ponds about two months ago and we caught the crap out of them. My best for the day was about 3.5 lbs. Well this guy came in my father-in-laws restaurant today and gave him the key to his gates and told him that we can fish his lakes anytime. He also told us about his "secret" lake that is way back in the woods that nobody has fished in years and said we can fish it too. I can just imagine this lake being like that little pond that Iaconelli won the Classic on in '03. Man I can't wait to fish this pond. I was just wanting to share this with y'all. I'll post pictures when we catch some hawgs...hopefully. Thanks for reading if you did. Quote
Super User Paul Roberts Posted October 14, 2009 Super User Posted October 14, 2009 8-) 8-) 8-) You know...there are lots of "secret" lakes out there. Just no one bothers to ask. Seriously. Lots of people are too shy, or afraid to get rejected. I had the keys to a set of university research ponds once. I just talked with the manager (we shared other interests) and he gave me run of the place. It's eye opening to fish for bass that have never been fished before. Afterwards, if anyone tells you fish can't learn (fast!) you can smile to yourself. Quote

The first few visits are magical and then the inevitable happens. The bass wise up and it becomes incrementally harder using artificals. Quote
2ManyCrankb8s Posted October 20, 2009 Posted October 20, 2009 That sounds like a dream come true! I look over the maps all the time to see if there are any places that maybe someone has overlooked just to get that one try. ;D Quote
