ShawnCorreia Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Just so excited I wanted to share my new personal record largemouth bass. 7 pounds 12 ounces!! Might not seem like much to some people, but this is the biggest fish(bass) I have ever seen in RI! I am so glad I am the one who caught it. Just dragging a red powerworm over a stump on Tiogue lake at 11:30am Tuesday morning. I was using a 6'9" all star platinum tops and tails rod, Revo STX, and 10lb P-line CX premium and a tru tungsten 5/16 worm weight and true turn blue bass 2/0 hook. Of course I released this bad boy and am open to suggestions where I can get a good replica mount. Thanks, Shawn Quote
Under the Radar Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Contrats Shawn, That's one fine lookin' fish. 7-12 is a good fish anywhere. I'd be excited too. I thought I heard something Tuesday just before lunch.. 8-) Quote
Super User Marty Posted September 16, 2009 Super User Posted September 16, 2009 Congratulations Shawn, that is one fine fish with a world-class pot belly!!! May I ask what your previous PB was? Quote
ShawnCorreia Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 Thanks for the nice comments guys. My first pb was only 6lb 3oz and hit that mark twice! But I suspect this wretched has a bunch of my worms in his belly already from snapping me off. in the past! ;D Not really, but you never know! Over the past few years I have snapped off on BIG bass alot here. Tough wresling them out of the stumps with 8 or 10 pound line. Quote
dauberangler Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Awesome catch man, and even a better man for releasing that big boy. You are truly blessed, hope you break your own record. Godspeed Quote
HOIST-N-HAWGS Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 OUTSTANDING RI HAWG! The artist/taxidermist you seek is...... Richard Benedict from Kendall, NY. http://www.freewebs.com/anglingartisan/ Quote
unhbass37 Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 Wow congrats on the new PB. She's a beauty. Quote
ShawnCorreia Posted September 18, 2009 Author Posted September 18, 2009 Thanks fo all the advise everyone, but I think I have found the best here...http://www.blackwaterfishreplicas.com/ cost is 1095 and turnaround is 11 months, but worth a little extra for hand crafted cedar. Most glass ones were around 500 anyway for quality work. So I think this lifetime purchase will be worth it. Quote
ArcticCat500 Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 Very nice RI Bass Shawn, well done Quote

ShawnCorreia Posted September 20, 2009 Author Posted September 20, 2009 Does anyone know why this was moved from "bass fishing in the northeast"? I caught it in RI and I was hoping it would be easy for my fellow RIers to see it :-/ Quote
Super User Tin Posted September 22, 2009 Super User Posted September 22, 2009 Haha! I have caught some nice ones off those stumps. By seeing the Center of New England signs in the background I can guess which one it was. ;D Nice fish. Definatley the biggest fish I have ever seen out of there. Quote
