UrbanAngler Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 met up with my buddy(jeff) at the local city lake in the morning to help him celebrate his b-day. we started out with a little flyfishing. it took me awhile to get back into fly fishing mode, but after i got it back i hook into a bluegill, and after that jeff hooks into one. it was cool hooking into bluegills but we were craving for some bigger action. so we break out the bass gear and i hook into the first one while explaining to jeff what a bass bite is gonna feel like. after that first catch the bite went dead so we move to a different location. that's when jeff hooks into his first legg lake bass. it's a little small but a skunkbeater none the less, and now jeff's got the bass itch. we start working the shoreline again and jeff yells "got one!!!" i turn to look him and get a quick look at his rod bent in half and then fling back into it's rested state. line break!!! guys, you should of seen the look on his face. lol so we go back to working the shoreline. by this time the sun's cooking us, so we start shade fishing. a half hour goes by without a bite, and we're ready to call it quits. so i ask jeff if he wants to hit this spot that mrbeans(local angler) says he always catches bass at. we go to the spot and on the first cast i hook into this little pig.(thanks mrbeans:cool:) close up shot all in all it was a fun day on the lake. Koop Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Nice man, water looks nice there. You ever go fish Big Bear Lake? I used to fish it fairly often when I lived in CA. Quote
Infidel. Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Nice fish! You are pretty gutsy posting pictures of nice fish being caught at Legg. Hopefully you didn't post that on the local forum. Unless you course you enjoy all the company and trash while you are out there. Quote
UrbanAngler Posted September 15, 2009 Author Posted September 15, 2009 thanks for the comps. sounds like it was alrighty man!!...looks like that 1st bass has half its lip missin...i used to live in davis by sac...and oh brother i remember fishin on some brutal hot days out there...but i think i'd still take that heat vs it being 90 degrees and practically 100% humidity here...where your sweatin like a pig one of these years i'm going to get into fly fishin bass & whatever else...i've tried it before and its cool once ya get the basic techniques down...patience is a virtue with it though good eyes hidepounder 8-). you're the first angler to notice that the bass in the first pick has a section of it's lips missing. catching bass on the fly does take patience, but it's also the best feeling in the world. Unless you course you enjoy all the company and trash while you are out there. lol. you know legg lake too well. i'll sometimes post up my catches on the local site, and when i do, i blur out the background, and don't give the location of the catch when i post. many anglers hate that, but it's helps protect the city lakes from poachers. too many poachers, too little DFG officers. > Nice man, water looks nice there. You ever go fish Big Bear Lake? I used to fish it fairly often when I lived in CA. nope, i haven't fished BBL yet. i might head up there next month for the annual Big Bear Troutfest. Quote
