Thats a nice fish! Do you just use bass tackle for redfish?

You can... In a couple of the rivers around here, reds will move in from the gulf and you'll catch a few while bass fishing sometimes.

George, great fish! I love hooking into a big red, they pull like a train.

I thought they also went by the name of channel bass.

Just checked.  They do.  It's the state fish of N. Carolina.

So, it is indeed a bass.

The Red Drum (Sciaenops ocellatus), also known as Channel Bass, Redfish, Spottail Bass or simply Reds, is a game fish that is found in the Atlantic Ocean from Massachusetts to Florida and in the Gulf of Mexico from Florida to Northern Mexico. It is the only species in the genus Sciaenops.
