CanalStalkin Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Man I am still stoked about the 2 fish I caught today. The biggest fish I have ever caught. After working on my car all day stressing out my buddy decided to go carp fishing with his bow. Well I went along and decided to throw a few casts to relax. The first fish I caught was the biggest. Here is a picture. Caught him with a texas rig black and blue laminate kinami. Can someone guess on the weight? forgot my scale! Heres my second, caught him on a green pumpkin Texas rigged Kinami. no tape measure or anything so I put 3 5 inch worms down the side of him haha. Ghetto I know. any guess on weight for this guy? This has my confidence through the roof! I am totally addicted now. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 WTG, man. Now you've got the fever!! I'm not even gonna guess on the weights, but either way, nice catch! Quote

endless Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 hey thanks endless, I am dying to try a frog on top of all that slop around the edges. Any recommendations for a frog lure? im just getting into that myself and can only recommend what what recommended to me and so far i have caught fish on them. the spro bronzeye frog65. i have the leopard. and the rage tails. both worked for me alot of hits though off rage tails. green pumpkin/pearl.. just didnt get the hook set right and jumped the gun to soon. the rage tail kicks up some water now. there is a topic on frogs im sure just might have to do a search. its probably better to search first than start a new thread. there is one on the spros. and im sure someone else will post on this post to your question on frogs. but other than those i only tried the original frog from walmart, no hits off of it and the other two is all i tried. im not sure of anything else ribbit dont look to bad and seem to have a good review on it. not sure of rest like zoom etc. Quote
George Welcome Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Pictures and weight guessing don't go together well, but congratulations on a very nice fish. Enjoy! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 No guess on the weight but nice fish just the same. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted August 5, 2009 Super User Posted August 5, 2009 This has my confidence through the roof! I am totally addicted now. This is way more important than the weight. Congrats, and keep working at it. Quote
DEbassman17 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 i'll say 4 1/2 for the first one and 3 1/4 for the second one Quote
endless Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 if the second one is 15 inches its probably near round 2 pounds. the one in my avatar was close to 19 and he was only 3.5 pounds. but like j flancho says your confidence is that most important. did you try the same canal where you caught the first bass at? Quote
avid Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Your first fish is definitly a 4 lber and your second just under 2. Way to go Quote
CanalStalkin Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 if the second one is 15 inches its probably near round 2 pounds. the one in my avatar was close to 19 and he was only 3.5 pounds. but like j flancho says your confidence is that most important. did you try the same canal where you caught the first bass at? Yep endless, same spot as the first tiny one I caught. I'm gonna walk down a bit and try the shallower parts and see what happens. Quote

CanalStalkin Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 I am definitely going to grab some frogs once I get a casting setup. That's some thick stuff you are fishing in man. Quote

That's some thick stuff you are fishing in man. i know and love every moment of it lol. theres another pond thats bigger than this one filled with vegetation. actually alot worse but the base is making it hard for me to get on cause i dont have my county sticker. fishing the veggie is great now i just have to find the bigger boys i had couple hook ups that felt at least bigger than what im catching but they slipped away. fishinfewl Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Kind of hard to guess from those pictures but I'd say about 4lbs. Quote
coontreer Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Kind of hard to guess from those pictures but I'd say about 4lbs. What part of Dayton you from? Quote
Koop Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Top one is probably around 3#- 4oz big head but he's thin. Good catch none the less. Try some zoom horny toads in white or black... and hang on. Quote
SammyLee Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 Yes Sir, those are some nice fish. When I have a good day, I become a legend in my own mind! Boy, my wife must love to hear (over and over) how this expert figured out what was gonna make them hit and how I managed fight him, with full details. I agree with the 4 pound range for the big boy. And I'll tell you what, I went to PBS last night and bought the Rapala 15 pound digital ($31). Today, I was weighing every fish we caught! Oh yeah, 14 ounces! What a nice fish! 7 pounds 14 ounces for nine fish. It's fun just to know. My best day/s were last weekend when I landed a 5.26 LMB and a 3.51 SMB (who fought like crazy!) at Pickwick. And I do belive I caught the smallest fish ever caught on a Sexy Swimmer. Is that little fish a bass fry? Quote
