CanalStalkin Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 well I consider it my first bass. Last one I caught was when I was fishing for catfish with anchovie, just hit it while I was reeling it in (luck I think). Was using a red shad kinami senko worm. Using RoadWarriors advice in the "guranteed to catch bass" thread. Very small but hell ill take it and I'm HOOKED! About 5 minutes later my buddy caught one of similar size. Here are some crappy cell phone pics of the place I fish and the fish. d**n thing looks even small next to my fat self haha. The main reason I got into fishing was to get in better shape by walking the banks and getting out. I appreciate all the helpful info on this website that helps me get out there and accomplish that. I took the second picture from the place we like to stand and cast from. its actually a bridge that goes to the other side of the canal with the road going over it. I saw something crazy a group of swallows were flying in and out of this bridge when one hit the water and was kind of paddling to the edge in some moss when a bass came up and SLAMMED it. It was a gonner. If someone has some tips on fishing this type of area please chime in. Tons of weeds that can be annoying. Quote
aarogb Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 A bass is a bass isn't it? Congrats!!!!!!!!!! BTW, I would be throwing some frogs in those weeds you showed in that picture. Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted July 29, 2009 Super User Posted July 29, 2009 The first of many I'm sure . Quote
driftingrz Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 i would definately be picking up some topwater frogs to fish in those weeds. 1 small bass is all it takes. i too caught my first descent sized bass while catfishing. it took my night crawler. i eventually forced myself to try to become a believer in the soft plastic lures. a lil paitence and one Dink is all it took to get me hooked on a trickworm Quote
endless Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 gotta start somewhere!! congrats and go get em. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted July 30, 2009 Super User Posted July 30, 2009 congrats on the first bass. that looks like some real good water. down there by those weeds would be great (it doesn't look too accessible, but if you can get down there, definitley give it a shot) Quote
Skinnyh2ofishin Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 I'm sorry to hear that. Another soul hooked on this time, energy, and bank account consuming sport by way of a freak accident while innocently catfishing. Just one and you're already out targetting them on purpose! But really, congrats on your first, or second, however you want to look at it! That first time for anything is special, but at least with bass fishing, the bigger they get the better the experience. ;D Quote
Big-O Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 WTG Man, just keep walking the banks and tossin' baits at'em, you'll have alot of fun and maybe have some more fish to post up as well Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
