went out on St. Mary's lake with my dad this evening.

i started out dropping an anaconda around fallen trees and tossing a spinnerbait all over the place.

dad had on a DT6 and was casting it in the creek channel and getting frustrated with weeds.

we moved up the creek into real shallow water and he snagged a nice red ear sunfish on the crankbait.

it was about this time i decided to try out the action on my most recent bait (4", two piece shad).

i was very pleased with the swimming action on it. on the retrieve it has an aggressive zig zagging action, and wakes the surface very nicely. at rest it slowly sinks a little slower than 1 foot per second. it has a nice injured look when twitched.

here are some videos of the action, the second one is dark (photobucket really darkened it) but it shows the action best.

after a few minutes of fishing the swimbait, i was waking it under the surface out in open water (over the channel in the creek) and then i killed it, let it sink a little bit, twitched it once or twice, and then i saw a bass come and just slam it. it was really cool!

i continued to fish that lure for a long time, mainly because i like to watch it swim :) i had two fish swipe at it (didn't commit, don't think they even made contact with it), and then later in the night my dad and i were having a conversation about songs pertaining to drugs, and i was just relaxed, looking at the water next to me, and reeling in really slowly when a bass slammed the swimbait, and i (not paying a lick of attention to the fishing) freaked out and jerked the bait away :( oh well, i was happy that the fish were hitting on the bait.

dad tied on a baby torpedo and on his first cast, he casted right up to the bank, under overhanging shrubbery, and twitched the bait once and then a bass came up and sucked the lure down :) he was pretty happy about that. he didn't get anymore fish the rest of the night :(

once it started getting dark i tied on a popper (river2sea bubble pop or something...) and on my first cast, i casted right to the edge of some tall marsh grass, and probably 1-2 seconds after the bait landed, a bass sucked it down! didn't even get to twitch the bait. the bass wasn't to big (biggest of the night though), but put up a GREAT fight.

(dad tellin jokes before he takes the picture.... ::))

i continued fishing the popper and by this time dad had on a DT01 and was waking the surface with it. he got one swipe but no takers.

i hooked one small bass on the popper, but quickly lost it.

later once it was dark i casted towards the grass again, and i got a backlash, so i let my bait sit in the water and just as i go to start picking out the backlash, i heard a nice splash, and i knew the fish took my popper, so i had to reel the fish in ontop of my backlash. caught the fish and got the backlash out next cast :)
