Had the pleasure of taking my grandson out on the river Thursday. the problem he's five so how was i going to get him around the swift water--- use the boat i use for my dogs, worked perfect.

we went across the river where i knew there was a few bass just waiting for us. within 15 minutes he caught 3 smallmouth then he said he wanted something to eat, well wouldn't you know i'm not use to kids fishing with me and all our food and snaks were on the other side of the river, 25 minutes later we were having our snaks and then a rest time.

After the rest he wanted to go back out where his dad was-- across the river. we started across on the way i started fishing with a 4" black mistertwister grub, fishing as i walked. i caught 10 redeyes 5 or 6 bass about 12 to 14" and one bass 18" by the time we got to his dad a thunderstorm came up so we had to hurry out of the river and go home.

Was a great fishing trip on the river with the grandson watching him catch a few fish and i managed to catch a few myself.

Way to go, nothing like fishing with a youngster to really make a trip special....

I learned a long time ago, when you take the young ones fishing it's just that- they are going fishing and not really me. If I get a few casts in that's just a bonus because I am either untaggling a line, taking them potty, opening a juice, getting them lunch, taking them to go potty again. etc..

I am married with no children but if anyone's kids want to go fishing, they know if they ask politely, Mr Mark will always make time  to take them.

What's really sad is there is no shortage of single moms or dads that have children that want to go fishing but they have no one to take them ( or the parents just do not have time. My attitude is a docked boat is a useless boat.
