ragincajunbasss Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 He Guys do the Gman jigs come with 3d eyes or do you have to buy those Separately . I love his skirts but I would like to buy the jig with the eyes already on the bait if possible thanks for the help. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 5, 2008 Super User Posted December 5, 2008 "Eyes" are for fishermen, not fish. Even on hardpan, gravel or a rocky bottom the jig head is obscured. There is no advantage to having eyes painted or glued on this particular lure. p.s. I like painted heads and usually lose the jig before it wears off. I like matching paint just because it looks cool. However, I notice absolutely to difference in the performance of an unpainted jig head, none whats-so-ever. 8-) Quote
Willzx225 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I agree with RW. I can't stand eyes on jigs. If you think about it, the eyes are typically located where the rear of the crawfish would be since it would be in a defensive posture crawling on the bottom. JMHO BUT.... maybe RaginCajun is swimming his jigs where eyes might be of some benefit. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I've never installed any on jigs. I honestly dont see a reason except if you swim them. I have swam jigs quite a bit but never noticed any difference. For the technical aspect of it. The eyes in my opinion wount hold up well if I dont epoxy over them. I have some on spinnerbaits that fall off pretty easily. Which takes alot of time to do and you can run into yellowing or running problems. If I had a sprayer I would probably try a few but I dont. I keep it real simple and subtle. Everything I have I use. If I cant test it or dont use it I dont have it as an option. I wont do that to anyone. I guess thats my R&D. LOL Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 5, 2008 Super User Posted December 5, 2008 Eyes on jigs? Eyes on frogs and crankbaits and Rats and spinnnebaits are OK. Never was concerned with eyes on jigs. More concerned with how the claws flap around. Fast or slow? Or close together? Or wide apart? And the skirt colors are important, too. Don't worry about eyes on jigs. Worry about eyes on frogs.
