TournyFish001 Posted December 1, 2008 Posted December 1, 2008 I am gearing up for next year... What size would you suggest for smallmouth in really clear water? I am thinking the 85, they are the same weight (1/2oz) the 85 is 3.25" and the 100 is 4" long... thanks in advance for your input Quote
senko_77 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I've never fished for smallies, but the largemouth around here crush a Sammy or Spro Dawg in the 100 size. Quote
TournyFish001 Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Well senko man we have largies around here too- that's good to know- thanx Quote
Super User Dan: Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 I would go for the 100. The larger size probably won't deter many smallies when the topwater bite is on. I catch lots of smallies, including smaller fish with 4" walking baits. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 You should have posted this in the smallmouth section where the guys that fish for little brown fish live! I would recommend 100, but I prefer the 128. 8-) Quote
Primus Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I never cared for the 85 size, like Roadwarrior I like the 100 & 128. Another must have is the Gunfish, cool bait. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 Sammy 115, Gunfish 115. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 The 85 size doesn't walk right for me? I catch 10" SM on the 100 size so I would not go any smaller. Allen Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 100 and 128 8-) Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 The 100 in american Shad. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted December 3, 2008 Super User Posted December 3, 2008 The 100 or 128 work fine for smallies. Falcon Quote
