TrippyJai Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 When do you choose to use one with or without? Do you have a preference for each season? Do some of you always use jigs with rattle and some just never use rattles? I'm new to fishing jigs so I need help. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I rarely use one but if I do it is in muddy water Quote
swimbait Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I only use them in muddy water or at night. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 Never made a difference with or without. If anything I think it helps the fish find it in grass or at night. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 I've used both but find no difference in murky water, grass or at night so I don't use them at all anymore Quote
Super User Munkin Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 I rarely use one but if I do it is in muddy water X2 Allen Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted December 2, 2008 Super User Posted December 2, 2008 Never. They just screw up the skirt placement. Quote
WIII-60 Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Always. buckshot rattles, the claw version. I'm native to murky water though. Quote
bigfruits Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 i use rattles in dingy water or if the jig bite turns off. its only worked a few times for me on the latter. i usually use a black jig in shallow water when using rattles. Quote
hart101080 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I use rattles most of the time .actually the only i dont is when they get ripped off the jig ive been wacking bass on all day . I like rattles, i read some where that crayfish make clicking sounds so ive always used them .True or not i dont know but i catch a lot of fish on a jig. Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I've had better luck without same here Quote
MNBassguy Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Ill use them if there already attached to the jig, but the ones that I build myself have none. My vote No rattles! Quote
Jeremy D. Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 I only use them if water is very muddy which our rivers here in alabama do so very well.... : Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Judging by all of these posts, I guess it doesn't matter Personally, I always use rattles. I don't have confidence without them. Quote
