driftingrz Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 so im out bowfishing for carp earlier today in a lil creek near my house that comes out of the counties water authority. and before leaving i decided to open up my new pack of Rage Tail Toads, i think watermelon color. cant remember. baitcaster was at home so i got my spare spinning reel used mostly for catfish. just wanting to test out the new toad see how it swam. first cast horrible wind took it down creek and like 2ft off shore. haha. 2nd cast landed beautifully up creek. started reeling back 20yards out BAM bass came out of the water and swallowed that toad. immediately i reared back setting the hook and he went back down. didnt take long but i had him on the bank. bout as excited as ive been fishing in a while. so much better than the subtle bites of a trickworm or senko floating in the water.... well i loved it. gonna go back tonight when the sun gets lower and cools down a little see if i can hook another... girlfriends out of town and i got nothing else to do. haha anyway heres the pictures. not sure of weight im guessing 2lb? i havent weighed enough bass to be able to guesstimate precisely. what yall think. it was pretty fat Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 18, 2009 Super User Posted June 18, 2009 nice catch. keep on trucking. Quote

Speed Worm Posted June 19, 2009 Posted June 19, 2009 That is a solid one-pounder. Pretty fish, but not 2 lbs. Congrats! ;D Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted June 19, 2009 Super User Posted June 19, 2009 I've been using the space monkey and lobster as topwater through the emergent vegetation. Sometimes run it just below the surface. It seems to me that the smaller bass are the ones that really blast the bait. The bigger bass seem to slurp it. But that's fine. The small ones really look quite large when they bust the bait. When I get that little slurp is when I hang on. Quote
