I was fishing the Alligator river in eastern NC today. I was just going along trying to catch a bass when I came across this. It kind of gave me the spooks so I took a picture of it and left. :-? There was a pile of rock around it that looked like a grave. :-/ I will do a little history checking and see what I can find out.

Slave graves run north and south without any headstones.

Usually covered by periwinkle.

Either someone just placed it there or high water is covering the grave.

Could have been an old plantation cemetery.

County should know about it.  :)

Did it hold any bass?????  :D

It appears to be a flooded grave, based on the house right on the edge of the water in the distance, the flooded walkway behind it, and poles sticking up out of the water. Interesting picture.   :)

Probably someones lucky spot, they put the grave there to keep everyone else away ;)

I've fished over flooded house places down in Southern Ark.  Caught 4 in the driveway and 2 outa the front yard.  We also caught one off the old well house too.  However, this takes the cake!  probably not a slave grave though.  Way too elaberate for that.  I would have pitched that jig up against it and if that didn't work maybe throw a spook :o! He He He!

Jimmy, we gotta do a day of exploring the next time I'm out there.  I'm almost tempted to make the drive just to fish.
