Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 5, 2009 Super User Posted May 5, 2009 I took my son out this evening for a little action even though the wind was howling pretty good. I know this lake, actually pond, holds some big fish and time was limited so I decided to use bluegill for bait. I figured this would significantly increase our odds at catching some nice fish versus using artificial. My son, at first, didn't want to use the gills and opted to stick with soft plastics. "BIG MISTAKE" I said to him but he's his own person so I let him use what he wants. The first gill produced this decent bass. My scale is lost somewhere in the boat but I'm guessing a solid 6. My son said to me, before I could even release her, "will you rig me up one of the baits?" I handed him my rod and a lively little gill. He caught this one about 20 minutes later which I think is bigger than mine but the picture I took doesn't show it. Me My son and his first bass over 4 pounds. Quote
