CGH Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Finally got out on the water in my canoe on Sheldon Reservoir. Mounted a Old Shakespeare 25 lb thrust 5 speed trolling motor on it side and headed out for a day on the water with the gators. Gators Spotted: 5 to 7 8 to 10 footers ( two bumped the canoe) 3 that were about 12 foot (Burst out from the Lillie pads and Hydrilla) 1 that was at least 15 footer (swimming pass the canoe within 2 feet) Fish caught: 12 to 15 Bluegill on Live Minnows under Float 3 Channel catfish Real Earthworm under Float 4 Crappie none were keepers all on Real Earthworm under Float 3 Large Mouth Bass (All three caught off the two trees in Picture) 2 on Lure - Zoom Super Salt Plus 6 Inch Lizard Pumpkin & Chartreuse 1 on Lure - Heddon Tiny Lucky # 13 Kept the smaller of the three and release the others This used to be a 10 hp or less water way but they have since change that rule. Any size outboard is allowed but boats must not exceed headway speed while operating on the lake. Their were several boats out their with 90's up to 250's blasting around on that water like they were on Ray Hubbard. All in all it was a nice day on the water even when I got bumped a couple of times by the gators. This place is crawling with gators. But they normally stay at the far north end of the lake and avoid boats. Quote
