Thad Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Looking for your suggestions for a better shad rap type crank, basically one that casts farther is what I'm looking for. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 Have you tried the Shad Rap RS? They are 7/16 oz and dive a little deeper, and they suspend. They have produced for me. Another option is the X-Rap Shad. 1/2 oz and dives 6'-15'. Falcon Quote
mrbassky Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Lucky Craft Moonsault. Cast better but pricey. Also the discontinued Excalibur Shad-R plastic and heavier but hard to find anymore. I have a little stock pile for windy days when I cant throw a shad rap. Quote
Super User T-rig Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 Nories RipRap Shad. Lucky Craft US Shad. Lucky Craft Slim Shad. Yo-Zuri Crank'n Shad. Quote
Thad Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 I've looked at those two lucky crafts but haven't found them online for sale. Where do you get them? Quote
Super User T-rig Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 Ebay. http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&_trksid=m37.l1313&satitle=lucky+craft+us+shad&category0= http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R40&dfsp=32&satitle=lucky+craft+slim+shad&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=6900&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32&fsoo=2 http://cgi.ebay.com/Nories-Rip-Rap-Shad-60F-Y69_W0QQitemZ310094896936QQihZ021QQcategoryZ7300QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1638Q2em118Q2el1247 http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&catref=C6&from=R40&dfsp=32&satitle=crank%27n+shad&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=6900&sabfmts=1&saobfmts=insif&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=32&fsoo=2 Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 I got my LuckyCrafts at either the Richmond BPS or Green Top. Beautiful Lucky Craft baits. But the Shad Rap is one of my staples and I always throw them; and then go to the Lucky Crafts and others. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted November 25, 2008 Super User Posted November 25, 2008 I've looked at those two lucky crafts but haven't found them online for sale. Where do you get them? Last month I bought a few of the Slim Shads in Cabela's online Bargain Cave. I can't wait 'till spring to give them a go for inland WI walleye. Give this one a look, it's by Dave's Ka-Boom lures: http://daveslures.com/winningstreak.html Quote
fathom Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 bumping the shadrap's back hook up one size will help you on the distance part. megabass deepx 100 is another good one...the slim shads are next on my list. Quote
rboat Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I do not know for sure, but I have heard that the cordel grappler shad works pretty good. Quote
Willzx225 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I also use suspend dots to add just a little amount of weight in order to control the bait better in windy conditions as well. But if it is too windy for that then I go to a plastic bait like the Shad Rap SSR which throws much better in the wind. Quote
TournyFish001 Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Lucky Craft D9 Slim Shad is exactly what this guy needs Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted November 27, 2008 Super User Posted November 27, 2008 I do not know for sure, but I have heard that the cordel grappler shad works pretty good. Can't believe I forgot about those. I am a fan. Quote
