What are the differences between football jigs and standard jigs besides shape?  What is the best application for both?

Thanks in advance.

Well for one I like the football heads for rocks and places that have a lot of hang up spots. The wider head keeps em out of the cracks!

Well I know what a football jig is good for rocks, I'm not sure when you would use a foot ball jig in replace of a standard jig, but I'm gonna say a standard jig head is better for grass, it looks like it would slide though grass better.

IMHO I do not believe that a football jig is only for use in rocky areas. For the most part they excell when a dragging method is required. I also use on clay and sparse weedy bottoms as long as I can drag through I will use them.
