Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Paul and I got out for a few this afternoon, got our first fish of '09, nice to see the rods bending. This first fish decided to remind Paul how much he loves the northern green snakes. A little slime and a touch of poo, yum. Then I got one,......wasn't expecting that, lol and then my 1st bass of the season, here we go.... Quote
=Matt 5.0= Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 That doesn't look like a Tierra on that custom rod... what happened? Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted March 15, 2009 Super User Posted March 15, 2009 weird lateral line on that bass. I dont think I have ever seen one that distinct and solid. I wish we had toothy critters here. Quote
bassmaster3000 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Could those be Chain Pickerel? The Lateral line is like that on a bass when the water is cold. The line will be more distinct ;D Quote
Cigarlover 1 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Nice to see some New England boys getting out. Nice work guys. Quote
Super User fishinfiend Posted March 16, 2009 Super User Posted March 16, 2009 I don't know how you guys wait that long to fish :-? Nice job, LBH. Quote
senko_77 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Dude that black stripe running down that bass is amazing. That would be one of the times I would consider mounting. I wan't to get a skin mount of a good looking fish rather than a big fish. Beautiful fish man! Can't wait till the Working Girls start smackin em! Quote
Mattlures Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 That bass looks like a bad taxidermy paint job. Sorry LBH but I think your bass is ugly! The pike is neat looking though. with all that slime it reminds me of our cudas Quote
SkilletSizeBass. Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Great job guys. Nice looking fish. Its really exciting to get the year started. I'm getting real excited. Quote
Super User Tin Posted March 16, 2009 Super User Posted March 16, 2009 .......I'll go back to bed for another week........ Quote
Super User senile1 Posted March 16, 2009 Super User Posted March 16, 2009 Nice work, LBH! I would love to fish for some Northern Pike. It's just good to wet a line, isn't it? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 16, 2009 Super User Posted March 16, 2009 Wow! I've never seen a bass like that either. Great job! 8-) Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Nice work I've been out shorefishing a few times now that most of my ponds are open, but no luck yet. My ponds just opened up last week - looking forward to feeling that first fish of '09. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted March 16, 2009 Super User Posted March 16, 2009 Sweet! Stuck my 1st green fish of the year yesterday. Quote
bigmountaineer Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Nice fish, that bass looks very cool. I've never seen on like that. Quote
MaineBassMan Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Awesome, I still have to Wait 14 more days! > My favorite time of the season is Ice out, for some reason I slay the largemouth even when there is still Ice floating around the lake. My first tourney is April 25th. Last year it was on the same date and it was freaking balmy out, 25 Degrees, but the fishing was great. The lake had ice on it the weekend before. Quote
MaineBassMan Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I don't know how you guys wait that long to fish :-? Nice job, LBH. It's hard, and I blow a lot of money buying tackle through the winter months. I hunt all winter so it kind of helps take your mind off from the fishing, but it makes you enjoy it that much more when starts back up. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted March 17, 2009 Author Posted March 17, 2009 Those are very large Barred Grass Pickerel (the black line coming down from the eye is the dead giveaway in identifying these) as opposed to tiny Pike, lol. The bass,...I agree,...is ugly, lol. But being the 1st one of the yr makes it a-o-k in my book Back out again tomorrow with Matt 5.0 and for all those wondering,....yes, we are already throwing the wakebaits, lol. Quote
